I was more interested until I saw what it was. Neat gun, but not anything I'd use for anything other than an occasional range toy. Wouldn't spend more than $200 on it.
I used to carry an LCP, but just had to have a Colt Mustang Pocketlite. I carried the Pocketlite for over a year. One day I found some LCP's in sale locally for right at $200 and thought why not have one again. Took them both to the range. On that trip to the range, half of the rear sight on...
I'm in law enforcement and have been sprayed with OC. OC is obviously well below a firearm in the use of force continuum. It is a horrible experience and works well on most people.
A couple things though... as others have said here you do have to aim. If you aim directly into the eyes...
I've never fired, but have held and dry-fired, one of these Rock Island .38's. The comparison to a Colt Detective Special (which I have owned and fired) is accurate in terms of shape and weight. The Rock Island .38 I looked at seemed to lack some fit and finish but was otherwise probably a...
You can't beat the 642 J frame. The Ruger LCR .38 also is nice. They are comfortable to shoot and very light. However, if you want light you already have that in the LCP. You can have that gun on you in most any type of clothing.
I recently got a Pietta 1851 Navy in .36. I've been using 10 grains FFF and there are absolutely no signs of wear on the wedge. The thing shoots great. The only modification I made was to polish both sides of the hammer, as it started to catch a little once it got really dirty.
Yep, when I first got the Piettas I used 30-35 grains of FFFG. Gradually crushed two wedges. Just soft metal I guess. When you think about the forces involved it isn't surprising. The ball hits the breech, the barrel assembly tries to leave the gun, and the wedge gets compressed from both...
Any person with a sense of decency finds abuse of another person or animal repugnant. We must remember, however, private citizens have no legal obligation or duty to use lethal force to intervene in a situation such as the one described. Inhibiting the urge to offer help is very difficult, but...
Anything more than 20 grains of FFFG results in peened wedges in my 1860 Armies and my 1851 Navy. All are 44 Piettas. I bought new wedges for all my guns a while back and have stuck with 20 grains maximum. No signs of damage so far.
Good question by the OP. Aside from Smith and Wesson target grips on the old 686's, I have always felt the Colt and Smith grips were not very ergonomic.
4th Amendment rights apply only to searches conducted by law enforcement, govt officials... If a private individual or a private entity like a company (and a person acting on their behalf) searches you, it isn't a 4th Amendment violation. That doesn't mean the search is ethical or legal. If...
My representatives aren't on the list of sponsors. But then I do live in a state in which no Democrat presidential candidate ever stops while campaigning.
I wonder why the usual suspects, such as Feinstein aren't on the bill.
If I find myself in a situation in which I am forced to decide to keep only one gun, then some terrible series of events has unfolded, and the person who is forcing me to make that decision is in great danger of being hurt.
But maybe a revolver.
I have a Sig 1911 C3. I've carried it off and on for four years. It fit every 1911 holster I've tried. It has a commander slide and an officer grip. The Ruger, which I do not own but have held, has a commander slide and I believe the standard grip.
The Sig 1911 C3 is excellent. They both...
Well, you could do what I did. I was worried that my GP100 might wear out or break one day. So I bought a second one. Essentially, I have a fully-assembled set of spare parts.
Properly stored powder doesn't spontaneously start to burn. Neither do people while I'm on the topic...
Powder chemically degrades if stored in hot environments for too long. I am not sure what might happen if the powder is in bad shape. I still seriously doubt it would happen. Other than...
Its not a question one should generally ask people you do not know well.
I'm a cop and have a second job as well. My coworkers at that other job don't ask me if I'm carrying. To me its like asking someone if they're wearing underwear today. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. Either way...
What happened yesterday was disgusting. It also isn't characteristic of the behavior of law-abiding and responsible gun owners. I think we all know that, but the public isn't thinking along those lines due to fear.
Unfortunately, the issue is rather simple and without any real solution...
