    Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine

I bought the Auto Ordnance replica myself in January 2018. Ran into several problems, including the failure to fire issue mentioned here. It took me almost a year and some significant effort to get it running smoothly and reliably, including a trip back to the factory. For me, the failure to...

    Good Milsurp with available ammo?

Until recently, the old commie bloc milsurp stuff was a good way to go. Mosin Nagant and SKS in particular. But now the prices are through the roof. Mosin Nagant M39s with cracked stocks selling out at $289 a pop. Serbian SKS police turn-ins going for $430. Garands...with the prices of both...

Any recommendations for a 20 ga gas semiauto for a guy with a fouled up neck?

My back and neck are a mess. Sorry to hear you're a member of the same club... I use a Remington 1100 20 gauge on 12 ga frame. 2 3/4" shells. Feels a bit heavy to carry at first, but not so bad when you get used to it. And the heavier frame helps absorb recoil. I've slipped a Limb Saver on...

    CZ 9mm Makarow

Been a few weeks. Hope you bought that CZ 82. I picked mine up earlier this year for $250 with one mag, not four. Accurate shooter. Reliable. Built like a tank. My favorite pistol.

    SKS Accuracy

Speaking strictly from my own experience - not a super soldier or expert marksman, just a run-of-the-mill shooter. My SKS is Chinese. Under ideal conditions, the accuracy is all I could ask for out to 150 yards. 2 - 3 inch groupings. Misses are typically the fault of the shooter rather than...

SKS just as good as an AK 47?

"Tens or hundreds of thousands of teenagers in the world's less developed nations may disagree with you on that." Probably, goon. Point well taken. But the key word in my original statement was "efficiently".

SKS just as good as an AK 47?

Gosh, this is a hot topic, isn't it? Seems like we have some "passionate" opinions on this subject. So, I'll throw in my own two cents here: The SKS and AK are two very different rifle designs, both have strong and weak points. The SKS has a comparatively simple design and it's easy to...

How many of you own a 380?

Kokapelli, Thanks for the tip on Freedom Munitions! I'll check 'em out.

How many of you own a 380?

Love the .380 guns. They feel good in the hand. They point well. And, as I age, I find the .380 a very manageable round - quick and accurate with rapid fire (something I can't do with a .40 or .45 anymore). But I don't carry a .380. Even though the .380 is so much more convenient to carry...

    which .22 LR rifle

I'm in the same boat, but my older rifle is a Browning SA-22 Takedown. I'm looking hard at the Ruger 10/22...just like it better than anything else I've tried.

what is "good" iron sights marksmanship?

+1 with MrBorland here. On a really good day, I can do 3 to 4 inch groups with a .22LR at 50 yards unsupported. With a good bench and rest, I can hold 5 to 6 inches at 100 yards. All iron sights. IMHO, that's "good". Not outstanding, but good.

    which SKS to buy ??

Own a Chinese myself. Great rifle. Extremely reliable. In all honesty, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the top 3 types (Russian, Chinese or Yugo)...but I'm personally not a big fan of the grenade launcher.

my insight on prices on ammo

Scout777, don't let the naysayers bug ya. You've made a good move. Seems like gary0529 and Potatohead are on the right track, IMHO. This is basic supply and demand at work. Demand for the most popular calibers has increased from all the new gun owners and supply (or even production...

If You Could Only Have Five Guns ...

On a budget regarding my gun purchases (hey, I'm married...what can I say?), so I'll be realistic in my choices. I'd take the five light-on-the-wallet guns I currently own: 1. SKS 2. Mosin Nagant (M44) 3. Remington 1100 20-gauge 4. Browning SA-22 Takedown 5. H&R 929 "Sidekick" Revolver Love...

in the market for a semi 20ga

I inherited one of the original Remington 1100s. 20 gauge barrel on 12 gauge receiver and stock. No adjustable chokes, though (according to Remington, my barrel is modified choke). Best shotgun I've ever owned. You can find 'em used for $350 if you look. Good luck with whatever you choose!

    First time shooting trap...

19 of 25 first time out is pretty doggone good in my book...at least, that's a heck of a lot better than I did my first time out.

    Mosin Nagant Safety

Had a bit of a problem with the safety and a loud-clicking bolt with my MN (M-44). On the advice of an long-time MN owner, I picked up a tube of Moly Paste. Broke down the bolt assembly and hand-rubbed it with the paste. Safety now engages smoothly. Bolt action now smooth and quiet. It's a...
