    Ruger LCR range report

The longer trigger reach on the LCR along with the trigger/trigger guard shape make this gun gobbs easier for me to shoot accurately compared to my boot-gripped J frames. When the J has uncle Mike's combat grips, I'm almost as accurate. But of course I can't pocket carry those grips.

Please Ruger make some wood LCR Grips!

I tried wood grips on my M&P340 and dang did they hurt like heck. The LCR boot grip is very usable, hard on the side so that it doesn't drag and it still has a small cushion in the grip.

    M&P 340 CT ammo/recoil question

Whether or not it's dangerous probably depends on your physical makeup. Probably some ringing of the hands for a while afterwards. I've never shot magnums out of my 340M&P. I would just puchase a larger recoil reducing grip for the 340 and use that for hiking. You're still going to have 5...

    A Mossy 500 in 20 gauge

I use the federal classic 2 3/4" #3 buckshot load for home defense in my 870. Winchester also has a 2 3/4" #3 buck load and a 3" #2 buck load. I believe that all the major american manufacturers that make shotshells offer some kind of slug load. I tried the Federal truball and remington load...

    20 gauge home defense shotgun?

I recommend the 870 that was linked above by snarlingiron, that's what I use. I have had a 12 gauge 870 setup with Wilson extended tube and surefire forend and it was over >10 lbs with sidesaddle. I'm not a muscleman so it was tiring to hold up for extended periods and for sure I couldn't do...

    870 barrel/epoxy/Trijicon sight install help!!

Sold it last year, can't really remember how many rounds I fired through it after putting on the site. Couple hundred mostly birdshot probably 50 slugs and buck. For what it's worth, I read on one of the boards that Wilson doesn't pin the sights now either, just uses the epoxy.

    870 barrel/epoxy/Trijicon sight install help!!

The 870 Express model has a pressed in bead. I don't know about regular 870s. I cut the bead off of the pedistal with a hacksaw prior to installing the epoxied-on scattergun tech/trijicon front. When I bought the sights, they were a 'kit' with the sights, epoxy, jig for drilling the reciever...

    870 barrel/epoxy/Trijicon sight install help!!

I installed one on my 870 express 6 or 7 years ago. The express model has a pedistal with the bead on top of it. If I remember correctly, I cut off the bead and the Wilson/Trijicon front sight fit right over the pedistal. It should be straight if the pedistal is straight. Now, I just wish...

    Which one for HD?

I think the scroll work on the H&H looks more tactical! Can you put a side saddle on that sucker?

J frame weight difference affected by grip choices

Great post. I also measured mine out of curiousity a while back. Interesting that S&W posts weight of the scandiums with the Hogues and 642 with the Uncle Mikes to make them seem farther apart in weight. If I'm not mistaken, my CT-405 were lighter than the Uncle Mikes. Abner

    870 V 500 triggers

Funny, this is exactly the same thing that I am considering. It's between the 6+1 870 express and the 5+1 Mossberg 500. Both in 20 gauge and both within $20 of each other. On the one hand, the 870 holds 1 more round, on the other the 500 has the top mounted safety and from what I've read...

Wheeling PD go with Beretta PX4

Is the half-cock that you are talking about on the PX4 the same thing as it is on the 92F? If it is, I believe that the half-cock notch does NOT engage the hammer block safety if I remember the manual. Unless the act of decocking it with the decocker engages the hammer block and it stays...

How does S&W CS really work?

I feel your pain... I sent in my M65-LS last month for a master action job and barrel replacement. The gun came back shooting 3" to the right @25 yards and the action would start sticking after less than 2 full cylinder rotations. So I sent it back with a note detailing the 2 specific...

Bowen's new improvement to fixed-sight guns.

I was quoted 30% more than that for a K-frame... Still, I guess I'd have a really cool M65-LS. Maybe if I win the lottery.

Bowen's new improvement to fixed-sight guns.

Yeah I saw the link on bowen's site of the K frame with those sights and got really excited, thought about upgrading my M65LS! Until I got a price quote. I'm sure it's worth it to someone, though. Very good idear. Maybe if they get enough interest they could get the rear sight produced for...

    3" barrel fans speak up

I have a 3" M65LS and like it a lot. Question about those 3" N frames I see posted... Are those ejector rods the same length as the one that comes on a 3" K frame? They look shorter... Thanks, Abner

Rear night sights for a fixed sighted revolver?

Ditto what Rexster said. I prefer a front tritium dot only on my defensive guns.

Rear night sights for a fixed sighted revolver?

I believe that tooltechgunsight can do that for you. They are the trijicon installation group. Their homepage shows the rear dots installed on a smith fixed sight. Adam

    Night Sights

If I have a defensive handgun capable of accepting night sights then I always put them on. I have finally landed on Green front Orange Rear meprolights. The green easily stands out over the orange for a quick sight picture. I find with all green the rears are brighter b/c they are closer to...

    Pocket Carry

Given your cost restraints and that you mention wanting a full size 9 as well, I would suggest an S&W 642 for ~350-400 and the rest can go into a Glock 9, XD 9or M&P 9. Adam
