    TRISTAR TRINITY LT O/U 20GA. 3″ 26″VR

Go with the CZ, a far superior gun. I've had several of their newer shotguns and the workmanship is great. The newest versions have cnc machined receivers and coil springs. Mine get weekly use at the trap/skeet/sporting clays ranges. I'm more attracted to the SxS's, but I've got friends that are...

Restored 1894 Marlin Rifle Ammo question

The original Marlin 1894 was never chambered in .32 S&W Long. Marlin did recently make the Model 1894CB in .32 H&R Magnum, but it is identifiable by the fact that it loads from the front of the magazine tube like a .22. You probably have an original Model 1894 in .32 WCF, or as it is also known...

SxS Shotgun for clay and upland birds

I've has three Stoegers and two CZ Sharptails. Yes, the Sharptail is out of your budget, but I'm sure that the Bobwhite is also a superior gun to the Stoeger. The quality of all of my CZ's is outstanding compared to any Stoeger that I've owned.

    Shooting "older" guns

I regularly shoot my Winchester Model 1873 "Assault Rifle" made in 1890 with the proper black powder loads. I haven't found an expiration date on it yet.

Seeking advice for a gun sale

I think you've figured it out by now, it's a scam. I had a shotgun listed on armslist once and as always stated "face to face only". A guy responded by email, and later by phone begging me to ship it to his FFL. He eventually texted me photos of his DL, hunting license, and even his hunting dog...

    Beretta A-300 - thoughts?

It's a great gun and an exceptional buy. Heck, even the roughly $650 new price is a bargain. I bought one a couple of years ago, shot it much more than you are planning, gave it to my daughter and bought another one for me. Both have been flawless since the beginning. Very soft shooting with any...

    New to Skeet...

A Beretta A300 Outlander can be bought new for $600-650. The 28" barrel with Mobil chokes will take you through Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays. Plus you can hunt anything that flies. And they have a stock that adjusts for pitch and cast. The self cleaning gas piston just needs to be cleaned...

    Help with ‘disabling’ two guns

This is spot on. When we had to take my Father-in-law's guns away for the same reason ( he was a retired deputy sheriff), my wife would argue with him all day about why we had to do it. I would just say "Sure Pop, we'll bring 'em next visit" and he'd be happy and go on to something else. It's...

Effectiveness of 45 Colt Shotshells versus 410 gauge birdshot on poisonous snakes at 20 feet or less

I just killed a rattlesnake on my back patio yesterday. The closest gun I had was a .410 Citori with skeet chokes. It took an hour to scrub the pavers, outside wall, and overhang ceiling clean. It was definitely too much gun, wish I'd had something smaller handy.

    Beretta A300 Outlander

I bought the standard synthetic model last year and shot it at trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Loved it! I gave it to my daughter and bought the new "Sporting Model" with the longer barrel and wood "sporting" stock. Well I couldn't hit much with it at all. Traded daughter and now I'm happy...

Trying a Ruger LCR in .38 Special

Felt recoil in these guns is more about the grip than the load. I loaded some 140gn +p for my .38 LCR. With the stock grips it had the "line drive with bare hands" feeling. Switching to the boot grips made a huge difference, actually comfortable. Your mileage will vary, but finding the right...

Never owned or shot a shotgun...........yet

The relatively new Beretta A300 Outlander is a great choice. I bought one a couple of months ago and have shot trap, skeet, and sporting clays with it and am very impressed. I got the black synthetic 28" version for less than $600 on sale new. I normally shoot one of my Browning Citoris for clay...

learning to shoot with non dominant hand

In shooting Cowboy Action Shooting in the Gunfighter category (one revolver in each hand), I have found that it is a matter of strength in the weak hand much more than coordination or anything else. Dry firing helps enormously. five or ten shots with the right, then an equal number with the...

    Who owns a Western Rig?

I use a strong side/crossdraw rig from Reddog Leather. Been using it for a couple of matches per month for two years and am still very happy. http://stores.ebay.com/Reddog-Leather?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 I got the two gun rig and a custom shotgun belt for around $300.

Thinking about getting out of 44 Mag

Ditto. I would not pass up the .45ACP if I found one. I think that the .45 Colt is too similar to the .44 , but the .45 ACP, ooooh yeahhh.

Ruger Vaquero 44 Mag vs S&W Model 69 44 Mag?

I quickly discovered that and bought a set of nice smooth maple grips that feel great with any loads.

Ruger Vaquero 44 Mag vs S&W Model 69 44 Mag?

My Talo birdshead Vaquero is my go-to ATV gun and carries well out of sight on a belt holster all day. I haven't tried full-house 44 magnums in it, but it is very manageable and accurate with a stout Unique load with 200gn hp's.
