1. Politicians
2. Gun ranges that treat met like a 5 year old, taking written tests and such before letting me get a lane.
3. The constant 'no, stop asking already' look I get when trying to find .22lr ammunition. (Unless you put up a sign which says you're out, I'm going to ask.)
4. Trying to...
Bill's sporting goods near me for a big shipment of 22 yesterday afternoon. Federal auto match 325rds are $27 after tax. They also have 100rd ct CCI 22 shorts, and a fancy Aguilla 22 that runs >1700fps.
Grabbed 3 boxes of 50rds subsonic thunderbolt from Bass Pro in Broken Arrow for $4/box. And another 2 boxes of Aguilla HV at $4.50/box at Academy Sports. Academy had plenty of 22 but with a 2 box limit and a price of $5+ for most boxes, I won't be buying from them again. Even Bass Pro was more...
I know, but hard to pass on any bulk. I used to shoot 500+rds per month, but haven't been able to maintain it. So I take what I can when I think it reasonable. Just packed 2k rds for 10 days in Tennessee, and will have to replace that.
Grabbed a Federal target 325 pack the other day from a local gun shop, slightly overpriced but still less than $.10/rd. Haven't scored any from Wal-Mart since they only put it out at 7am which does agree with second shift schedule.
I picked up a Sig Mosquito for my first 22 training pistol it's picky on ammo. It only shoots standard or sub sonic when suppressed, but regular range ammo has to be high velocity. Otherwise does just fine. I ended up buying one for my dad although he much rather would have had a Smith and...
Picked up 150rds of Federal Lightning 40gr RN for $8 at th local Wal-Mart day before yesterday. First time I've gotten .22 from there since Christmas when I nabbed 1500rds of Remington golden bullets for $88.
Seems applicable. Think of how many other LEO's have encountered a need to take down drug enhanced evil-doers. I'm not saying the .40 is underpowered, but remember it was originally designed as a low velocity 10mm round which was shrunk to eliminate empty case space and fit into medium frame...
I guess that I've gotten my 10/22s cleaned up and a solid target rifle, I forget that out of the box they leave plenty to be desired, which is also a big part of the huge aftermarket selection. That probably has something to do with why I barely shot my first one for the first 3 years I had it...
Having had several Armscor 22LR rounds with casing failures, it will be a LONG time before I trust anything bearing their name. Why bother with a copycat when you can get the real thing again at Walmart for a little more? What's that extra $25-40 for something that has a damn near faultless...
I'm going to cast another vote for the CZ. It's used at Boy Scout camps nationwide, and was the first gun I ever shot. If it can stand up to the abuse for a few years of Boy Scouts beating up on it then it's more than adequate for a family firearm. The Savage doesn't sound like a bad choice...
.22 is certainly an enjoyable round. It has its limits, but its still a blast to shoot. I learned to shoot as a young Boy Scout with bolt action .22. Now teaching new shooters, I always pulls out a poor Sig Mosquito with a high round count. Of my dozen or so firearms, I've ended up with half as...
When flying I'm lucky to check a pistol, never bother with long gun. Being a former bag thrower had something to do with that though.
When driving I only take one when going to an area where I'm going to get a good chance to shoot it (like parents ranch), but not for self defense, no.
Here's what I'm partial to:
22 Volquartsen Scorpion 6" black with compensator
380 Not a fan of many here, but Ruger LCP
9mm hard call, but I've always been partial to HK USP/P30/P2000 look
38, Colt Python Target
357, 6" stainless Ruger Blackhawk
45, hard to argue with a nice...
