What is the biggest firearm flop you have ever seen

I don't know about the Chinese 5.8mm cartridge, but the export models of that rifle (5.56mm Type 97A) are popular in Canada. When I lived there they sold like hotcakes and everyone seemed to own and love them.

What is the biggest firearm flop you have ever seen

For recent flops, the R51 and ACR come to mind. Both were great designs in theory and touted as "game changers". Yeah, well... the game hasn't changed. I know the R51 just came out, but the sheer amount of issues it's having and Remington's past incompetence and inability to fix...

    The Remington R51, Explained

Take a lesson from original Masada/ACR fans like myself, just give up now. :(

How much better is the H&K p30, than the Walther PPQ

I love the P30, but I have to admit the PPQ is a better pistol, especially for the money. Ergonomics are very similar. Size is similar. Fit and finish is similar. Capacity is the same. The main difference is the trigger. With the PPQ you get a light, crisp SAO trigger with a short and tactile...

    Glock 42 as primary EDC

So long as you get a load that reliably penetrates at least 12", and you can shoot the pistol well, it will kill an attacker just as dead as your PM9. For a defensive pistol to carry day to day you need only worry about shot placement and penetration. You are not engaging threats at long...

    Biggest cartridge flops ...

.41 AE and 9mm AE. .41 AE was essentially a slightly more powerful .40 S&W that came out a few years before the .40, after the 10mm began to lose favour. Sadly S&W had better marketing and the .41 AE died out pretty quickly. 9mm AE was .41 AE necked down to 9mm... sound familiar? :) It...

Which one is a better 1911, Ruger or Remington ?

Maybe he lives in Cali, where there's now a defacto ban on new semiautomatic pistols being sold by FFLs. They have a roster of "safe handguns" they're allowed to buy, and (I believe) as of 2014 one of the requirements for a "safe handgun" to be included is including microstamping technology on...

What is the .25acp capable of?

.25 Auto was purpose built for small pistols, and all the ammo out there is as well. Out of a rifle-length barrel (16") it's outperformed by .22 LR. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/25auto.html http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/22.html

do you guys download -1 your magazines?

What everyone else said. :) I load my mags to capacity. Sometimes if I get a really tight one I'll download it a couple rounds, then try again every few cycles until I can actually get the capacity in there.

    What gun do I have?

In my experience the P7 is the holy grail of defensive pistols among those who have never handled one. :) Of course I've met plenty of people who own P7s and like them, but they don't have nearly as high opinions of them as those who read about the P7 on the internet and think how something...

    What is your favorite .380ACP?

The Ruger LCP, as it's the only .380 Auto I own, though the Beretta 85 has a special place in my heart. If I ever start reloading I'll pick one up to play around with at the range.

Which one is a better 1911, Ruger or Remington ?

I'd pick an SR1911 over an R1 any day, though I openly admit I may be a tad biased. I'm not a huge fan of Remington to put it lightly and don't trust their QC. I'd rather pay the same amount of money for a Ruger. Plus I like the finish on the Rugers more. Do you have a source on that...

Which pistol do you shoot best offhand (fast draw/double tap) at 10-15 yards?

I shoot with a full-size M&P9. Even with the mediocre trigger it feels so natural and feels as easy as pointing at what I want to hit, and it hits it. Plus it's one of the most controllable 9mm pistols I've ever fired, which makes accurate rapid fire easy.

    Remington R51

Same here! I lost a lot of trust in Remington after the whole ACR thing. I just got around to trusting them again and was really looking forward to the R51. That'll learn me.

What 5 current production revolvers would you buy?

Bill Ruger died 12 years ago and the company did a complete 180 before his body was cold. If he could see what they were doing today he'd be rolling in his grave. I don't understand how someone can condemn a company that offers virtually everything gun owners want and fights hard for the 2nd...

What 5 current production revolvers would you buy?

    Ruger SP101 3" in .357 Mag Ruger SP101 4.2" in .22 LR S&W 57 6" in .41 Mag Manurhin MR73 4" in .357 Mag Ruger LCR 1.875" in .38 Spc I really wish there were more current production DA .41s :banghead:

    .41 Mag Association

.41 Mag is one of my favourite cartridges on paper but I've never owned one... yet. :( Every time I find a .41 revolver I like it gets discontinued. I'll just have to find one and go for it, then start reloading.

What mechanical safety designs used on pistols would not qualify for a best list?

The least practical safety system I've personally used is the DA/SA with a slide-mounted safety/decocker, like in the Walther PP, P38, Beretta 92, and a lot of older S&W pistols. To me it doesn't make sense to carry a DA pistol with the safety on and the pistol decocked. Do one or the other -...

    Accurate .22 LR suggestions

I'd say any of the "squirt gun" style classic .22s will work just fine. Look at the Ruger MkIII and 22/45, Browning Buck Mark, S&W 22A, Beretta Neos, and maybe an old Colt Woodsman if you can find one. The SIG-Hammerli Trailsides are also excellent pistols, as already mentioned, they're just a...

Pistol weight in ounces: When does it get heavy?

I think for pocket carry that's dead on. My LCP is 12oz loaded and that feels fine. I could probably deal with a few extra ounces, but I imagine at 20 it would be uncomfortable. On a belt the heaviest thing I've carried was a CZ 75 B with 20 rounds in it, weighing about 51oz. That actually...
