Has a gun that you've bought new ever broke?

My Beretta 9000s. The thumb safety mechanism broke internally before I ever got to put a single round through it.

    Sportsmens Warehouse

I spend enough there that I should be able to list them as a dependent on my 1040. Seriously though, I just checked, and saw that I've spent over $7000 there since February '06. They generally have better prices than the local gun shop, several of the staff behind the gun counter are...

    Seattle Utah Class Update

Like MillCreek said, it's always interesting meeting folks "IRL". I like being able to put a face with the screen name. Many thanks to Polishrifleman for organizing this for us, it's not something that I'd have likely been able to do otherwise. Likewise to Don, who kept the class entertaining...

    Seattle Area Utah CCW Class

Do we have an actual address? I'm the kind of guy that gets lost easy, so I like having a destination to plug into the gps. ;)

    Seattle Area Utah CCW Class

Ahh, that makes sense. I was thinking that we were going to hand everything to the instructor, and he'd take care of it from there. I'm glad I asked. :)

    Seattle Area Utah CCW Class

If anyone is having trouble figuring out where to get fingerprinted, you should check your local police department. Kitsap County Sheriffs Office does fingerprint cards for $10. Polishrifleman: Maybe I missed it in the thread, but what needs to be notarized?

    Load Bearing Equipment

I stopped by the Tactical Tailor retail store a couple weeks ago. The staff was super-friendly, a guy came out from behind the counter and talked to me for a couple minutes about their operation. They had some cool stuff there, but not nearly the inventory you can get from the website. It seemed...

Im considering a extravagant purchase.. worth it?

Over $1000 for a used Sig? That seems very expensive to me.

are those water filters really safe?

It should work, as long as you are in fresh water. Try to find moving water that is sediment-free. There is a finite life span for these filters. Dirty water will clog them faster. Prefiltering water can help with filter longevity. I don't know quite how nasty a bayou is, so take my advice with...

Just got a SOG Pentagon Elite folder

I don't remember that size stipulation in the RCW either.

    Recent Shooting in WA

I was watching the KOMO coverage of this story. The video feed was at a better angle and showed three impacts on the truck, one on the side of the bed, two on the door. It didn't look like any had penetrated to any degree. There was one pretty good dent on the door, the other two were smaller...

Bye bye Marine Corps, hello WA!

Forget the East Sound. Come on over to the Kitsap Peninsula. Harrison Medical Center is the hospital in Bremerton, and the second largest employer in the county. They are usually hiring RN's. Look for places to live around Poulsbo or Silverdale. East Bremerton isn't bad either. The traffic...

    finally got a real knife

CRKT makes nice knives, I've got a M16-01KE EDC and the girlfriend has the EDC plus one in Ti. The M16Z with zytel scales has a somewhat lesser blade steel. I've always said "cricket" when talking about them.

    shotgun 101 please

As a preface, I'm not that into shotguns, at least not nearly as much as someone like Dave McC. Your answers: 1) 2 3/4" #8 target loads. 2) I think so. Don't know any reason not to. 3) Probably not. I could be wrong here. 4) It goes "BANG". The four rules still apply, don't point it at...

    9mm faster?

Oh no, not another........Caliber War  Both rounds are adequate for most purposes, especially with modern SD ammo. 9mm is less expensive to shoot, and you get more rounds in a magazine, FWIW. Either pistol should be a great gun.

    Who's got a Bushmaster?

I like my Bushy. I haven't been able to find out quite how accurate it is yet (getting a new contact lens prescription in a week or so :o ). At this point it shoots better than I do with iron sights. Build quality seems decent in my limited experience.

Do you wear your holster at home?

My pistol goes on immediatly after my jeans and belt. The only time I don't carry is work: scrubs make it difficult to conceal, and policy frowns on weapons just a bit:( .
