    Air travel

We used to travel by air all the time, have all 4 of our handguns in one case, when we go through TSA the only comment I've ever received was one time a few years back flying out of San Antonio about "how many guns I had - why's a pretty girl like you need all them guns?"... Not once from ANY...

Looks like there may soon be more Constitutional carry states

A lot of the "classes" I've been to were mainly pro-forma box tickers to get someone a CCW or guard cards or the like... not only were they not particularly informative, but a lot of them were, sadly, unengaging and boring. The one exception is a local guy who takes firearm ownership...

New Member? Introduce yourself here (just intros, questions get answered elsewhere)

Hi all... Not a new member, but haven't posted in like forever. So while I'm more "recycled" than new, I figure I better re-intro myself! My current avatar kind of tells you where I'm coming from... I'm an avid Trap & Skeet addict, firearms collector, huntress, and occasional...

AL bill to renounce your 2nd amendment right

In some states if you have been commited for a "mental health disorder", your rights to possess or purchase firearms are rescinded until you are adjucated metally sane (which, for some people, may never happen). I know someone who went through a particularly nasty divorce and it drove him...

    Lever gun fun

Kroil also works really well for dissolving ancient hardened guck... not as cheap as WD, but it's become my go-to for 100 year old solidified guck... Most brake cleaners can be toxic as hell if heated (don't ask how I found that out!)... not thats a problem usually, but still, unless you need...

    1892 what do you think?

That action was ridden hard (and apparently put away wet) by someone with a screwdriver and hammer and a bottle of cold blue that fancied themselves a gunsmith. The furniture at the tang looks like a baby's teething toy - my guess is someone tried to pry the tang from it (probably with the same...

pre 64 Model 70 rebarrel question?

For a firearm that fits the shooter in the caliber he likes. I could see that - I can't shoot my dad's pre-'64 30-06 - the fit is totally different than my pre-'64 .308. Hard to explain, but once you have an action you like, and a firearm that fits the shooter right, changing calibers is...

    Question about old gun "patina"

Ditto on the 0000 steel wool / oil rubdown. If even that. I have a few recoveries that look just like that, and as long as you maintain them it won't get worse.

    miltary for hunting

I was figuring it was after LL in the AM... NOT the PM... :uhoh: I have hunted with my Garand. I have made a couple good shots, and I actually like the peeps, but... these were daylight, not early or late - and now, I'm too old to see that good in low light. And by the end of the day...

    John's brother's junkyard finds again!

I was working under a bridge years ago, and found a *very* rusted and beat up AK... was going to take it home, naval gel it and mount it, but one of the bosses buddies (and my former coworker) told the boss :cuss:, and he came by and took it himself. Thinking back, it was probably a disposed of...

    Waxing blued guns

Johnson's Paste wax in the familiar ol' yeller can... I also use it for the working surfaces of the machines in my shop to keep the rust off them, too. Good stuff, and cheap. If you already *have* rust (or signs of non-deliberate rust discoloration), that's another story... I don't use...
