    Colt Square Back Trigger Guards

I believe it was intended to assist the shooter in resting the back of the trigger guard on the middle finger when the muzzle was pointed upward. Once in that position, the thumb is used to hold the hammer spur back while the muzzle is thrown downward to level position for firing. In other...

30-06 length, hi-cap, detatchable box mag?

The 25 round extension magazines that were made during WWI for the 1903 Springfield are usually available somewhere, but they run from $400.00 to $600.00 if you can find them. They simply lock into place after the floor plate is released and removed. The cover plate keeps the follower...

It's an 1851 NAVY Colt with a rebated cylinder of 44 caliber and a barrel of 44. Such a revolver never existed of course.

I refuse to own a magnum rifle round that has a belt...

I was informed years ago that the 7mm Remington Magnum is actually the same cartridge as the old 7mm Newton but it has the belt. Maybe Remington "improved" it or didn't want the Newton name associated with their rifles or it was about Patent infringements?

    Uberti Walker refinishing

Yes. I should have specified that I would leave the original finish on it.

    Uberti Walker refinishing

If I had a Colt 2nd generation Dragoon, I'd probably leave it as is and just use the heck out of it.

    Uberti Walker refinishing

Hombre, I like your idea of using the rounded end of the extension! I'll try that. I've used a small drift punch that I moved around as I tapped on it. Your idea is much better I think. I forgot to mention that I use a small honing stone to get everything smooth and uniform on the underside and...

    Uberti Walker refinishing

I used the exact same method then. Peening over the old stamping, then lightly filing followed by a bit of emery cloth and oil.

    Uberti Walker refinishing

Defarbing... Interesting. I never knew that there was a word for it. I found the technique I use to be very effective. I wonder how he did it? I'd like to see some of his work. Fred

Gun rights in Europe post Charlie Hebdo

There's a lot of open land between here and the Pacific Ocean. A lot of it nobody wants. Most of it is actually without much in the way of development. There's Public land, Govt. land and there's Private land. The private land is fenced if there's livestock on it. There's a lot, (most) of land...

Gun rights in Europe post Charlie Hebdo

Snejdarek, I think that the right of people in my country to have pretty much as much ammunition as they want is taken for granted. Most of us here don't think about the restrictions that govern our brother firearms enthusiasts around the world. Funny, with all of the ammunition that my wife...

Could you please post a link to that Walker at Cabellas in Allen Texas? I can't find it in their Gun Library. OK, I found it through a Google search. I think that it's Great as far as the markings go. I believe that whoever made it used a Uberti Cylinder. It has cylinder bolt holes that are...
