I like hold under for peep sights on my 10/22 lets me shoot out further as a side benefit. As plinkers and trick shooters know never shoot over your target, and under sometimes produces more dramatic results.

Springfield XDs has a four inch version with extended mag it is less compact. Have your cake and eat it too. I own a 3.3 inch 45 ACP and love that gun. They are less than an inch thick. Good sights out of the box, Talon grip tape is a good touch.
