Is it legal to ship a Hand Gun to one's self?

Great information, almostfree. I've read all I could find on firearms shipments and never seen that one.

    Funny gun shop stories

Mine was and wasn't funny! Went to the local shop, where most of the folks are pretty knowledgeable, but there's this one.... I was waiting to make my purchase while he assisted a novice, a lady looking for her first carry gun. He whips out his own, an old Colt .380, and is explaining all the...

Tired of trying to find a S&W m-696 in .44 spl.

$450 696 Those Taurus 44s are nice. I had exactly the opposite thinf happen though. Looked at a Taurus several times in the local shop, finally decided to bite the bullet at $350...too late! Last month I tripped over a 696 at a show for $450 and about tore off my pocket gettin' my wallet out! I...

www.lockstock.com & www.wideners.com are both top notch vendors at reasonable prices.

    Primer problem?

The plastic cases don't offer as solid a base for your primer as brass. Try using standard (not magnum) primers. They tend to be a little softer and might work for you.

    The joys of obscure calibers

I have a 7-30 rifle & a 7 IHMSA XP-100 but the real prize hasn't been named yet! I have a real love of double rifles, but like most can't go the $, so built my own barrel sets for sxs shotgun actions. The first was on a 20 ga frame in 30-40 Krag. My latest is on a 410, and to create a rimmed...

    Best Single Stage Press?

Manual Not trying to hijack your thread, and mean no disrespect to Ed's opinion, but for my money Hodgdon Manuals are the most realistic. Actual loads seem to chronograph much closer to their data than most of the others.

    Best Single Stage Press?

Compound O Any of the compound leverage presses with an O frame (not an open on one side C frame) will do you right. I've used Pacific, RCBS Rockchucker, and Lyman's heavy duty model with equal sucess. All work great. I'm sure I have an extra one (or 5 :D) I could make you a great deal on if...

What kinds of people have lost their gun rights.

I know a guy who, in the heat of an arguement with his (now ex) wife smacked his coffee table hard enough to break a leg off. (It was a $39.95 chunck of particle board you had to set drinks on carefully.) The wife calls the cops, and it becomes "Domestic Violence." They confiscated his guns, and...

    Dallas, TX shops

Doc's Doc's on Whitlock just ease of I35. He's a little quirky 'till you get to know him, but the best 'smith in the area and will definately go the extra mile for you. I throw every dollar I can his way. in fact I think that might be where the expression "getting your pay Doc'd" came from. ;)

? on shipping firearms whthin one state.

Gentlemen, I could use your help. I'm trying to work a deal with a gentleman on a couple handguns. He is in my state, but about 200 miles away, so a face to face is a little spendy with gas prices as they are. I've explained to him the fact that private parties can ship to each other with no...

Hornady SST bullet performance on Whitetail

SSTs are the shiznitz! Bud, I've been huntin' mostly in TX for the last couple decades. They have a 5 deer limit!:D I made the switch to SSTs about 16 years ago, and there's nothing like them for deer. I've shot 140 gn in a 7-08, 150s & 165s in a 30-06, and 180s in a 300 Win Mag; out of over...

    Lowest Caliber for Deer

Err on the side of shot placement. You can "wing 'em" with a Howitzer and knock 'em down; but they don't eat too good!

    Lever gun, .30-30 vs. .44M

44 I've used both extensively, and wound up with a 44 trapper with a red dot sight. Fastest handling gun I own, and when those porkers get big (not to mention close ), you'll appreciate the WHUMP of those heavy bullets.

.223 and Deer - I know not a good idea but....

This is really interesting! I figured No would have a huge majority. Truth be known, there's prolly been more deer killed with a 22LR than everything else combined! Don't guess those folks have kept too gooda records though.

    Which 7mm-08 bullet

+1 on Federal Vital Shock Federal with the 140 Nosler ballistic tip shoots better than any other factory ammo in mine. I think I've got a box I'd sell real reasonable if you want to try them. (I handload for mine now)

.223 and Deer - I know not a good idea but....

SURE! It all depends on how you're hunting. I shot three this year alone, in TX from blinds where I had a dead rest. If I couldn't hit a deer head in those circumstances, there'd be thousands more prairie dogs wandering that part of the country.:D I also have a brother-in-law in WA who...

    Masking tape headspace guage?

That's how I was taught! I've done this many times. My drill is to use a case that has been resized in the dies I intend to use as a Go, and add one piece of tape (good masking tape will usually be .004" thick. VERIFY THICKNESS!!!) for a No-Go. That will leave you with a nice tight headspace...

    Rifle slings. Real leather.

Maximum size? Can you make one that says "Will Snipe For Food" in large enough letters to read from a passing car? I'd love to be able to leave my sign at the shelter!;)
