    Good bullets for M1 Garand?

Thanks for all the feedback. I am aware of the fact that you can't just buy any 30-06 ammo off the shelf and I was definitely planning on using Garand specific reload data. Thanks for the link to the M2 Ball bullets rg1. I just might check those out.

    Good bullets for M1 Garand?

I recently purchased a M1 Garand and would like to reload for it. I have reloaded pistol for a couple years now but this would be my first go at rifle. I am just wondering if this would be a good bullet for a stock Garand. Not looking for match quality ammo but I would like it to be...

    Almost a KABOOM

So does this mean it's a bad idea to buy the old military surplus M2 Ball ammo for the Garand? I was planning to buy a Garand and some ammo from the CMP and was wanting to reload down the road.

Recommend good fiber optic/blackout sight for SP 01 Tactical

I have a CZ SP 01 Tactical and I would like to get new sights for it. I would like to get blacked out rear sights with a fiber optic front sight for it. What set would you all recommend. I've never replaced sights ob a gun before. So the least smithing the better. I've looked at Dawson...

First AR which ammo to buy for reloading

Yeah, she's a keeper! I just wanted to ask because I had read where some people say to avoid FC brass because of a weak web. I just want to make sure that since I have to buy some ammo anyhow, I might as well get some with good reloadable brass.

First AR which ammo to buy for reloading

I just found out my wife decided to stop by a local store after work and surprise me with 500 American Eagle 55 gn 5.56 Ammo. She bought it for $179/500. It's Lake City brass but crimped primer pockets. She said the guy told her it's best to buy 5.56 if planning to reload as it's meant for...

Does all the 5.56 NATO have crimped primer pockets?

First AR which ammo to buy for reloading

I've been reloading shot shell and pistol ammo for the past year and a half. I just bought my first AR (first rifle for that matter other than a 22LR) and I need to buy some ammo for it. I don't plan to reload for it right away but I will eventually. With that in mind, is there any factory...

    9mm COL too short?

I loaded 20 test rounds with 5.1 gn BE-86 and a 1.066 COL. I'll test them at the range tomorrow. I had to go that short to get them to pass in my CZ P09. I was initially only testing in my 75b and my SP01. I then remembered that the P09 was the tightest. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

    9mm COL too short?

I listed in my OP that I had to get down to 1.103 for the dummy round to pass the plunk test. That's why I'm concerned, I also corrected a typo in the OP. I intend to start with 5.1 gn of BE-86, not 5.5 gn.

    9mm COL too short?

Steve C - I get all that. I'm asking specifically about the COAL.

    9mm COL too short?

I've been loading Acme 115 gn coated RN bullets with 6 gn of BE-86 at 1.127 COAL for about a year. I decided to try some Acme 124 gn RN bullets instead and the dummy round needs to get down to 1.103 before it will pass the plunk test in my two CZ barrels. The Acme 124 gn has a rounder, less...

357 load has lots of flash

The BE-86 I tried on a few loads has flash suppressant (or so it says). That's not why I use it though. This is the first I've ever used 2400 before and the first I've shot a magnum before. If I hadn't shot the factory ammo first, I probably wouldn't have thought much about the flash from the...

357 load has lots of flash

I went out last night and shot some test loads with 17.5 gr of 2400 and they definitely had a little more kick but the factory rounds still seemed like it had even more. Maybe it's just a matter of the type of recoil that makes it feel different to me. I also tried a few loads with 8.5 gr of...

357 load has lots of flash

It was indeed a cool show. I was also surprised how much less recoil versus the factory. Especially since I am only .9 gr away from Alliant's listed data. I am hoping I can get similar recoil from my reloads.
