    Throwing Knives

T.R. I grew up just a little east of you in the woods of the North Philly burbs. I like your comment, but, just like a typical newsperson would ask a parachutist, "Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" Just like guns. "One shot, one kill" If you miss your target on the...

    Throwing Knives

Yeah I know, never bring a knife to a gun fight.. I'm also an avid Archer and have two older compound bows. My parents bought me my first wood/fiberglass re-curve bow in 1966 when I was 11, which I still have. As a teenager in the early 70's my neighbors and the local cops didn't like me...

    Throwing Knives

The ice picks I throw hard with a half spin. It took awhile to learn to flick my wrist enough to get a quick spin. About ten years ago, I heard of a Company that was selling SKS rifle bayonets for $2.00 each, so I bought 40 of them. I throw those at my outside target with a half spin also...

    Throwing Knives

I can stick the ice picks every time, but it takes a lot of practice to hit exactly where I'm aiming. I play a lot of 9 inning Baseball and do pretty good. I'm a lot better with real darts, but ice picks are a real challenge.

    Throwing Knives

Another indoor sport I have is throwing antique ice picks. I have a large box of these that were made back in the 1930's. I taught myself to throw them from a regulation 5 feet 9 inchs at an old sisal fiber dart board that someone was throwing out many years ago.

    BUDK Knives and Swords

Knives to me are tools. I use them to cut, scrape, pry, remove slotted screws and sometimes worse. I look at some of the custom made knives that professional knife makers create. Some are weird and some are beautiful, and many have several thousand dollar price tags. To me, that's just man...

It's not that I really wanted a .223. Not knowing what I had, I thought the more common military round might be less expensive to shoot in large quantities at the range, that's why I questioned about the change. Since I may keep it, can anyone suggest a good 200-400 yard scope for it, without...

    Throwing Knives

Bannockburn, Good eye !! The lowest is an original Tru-Balance I bought new in 1976 for $45. North of Philly. The 2nd one up, the last of it's kind, I bought new in 1983 for $65. The 3rd one up, is one a good friend made for me. I said to make it out of 3/8" steel instead of the factory...

    Throwing Knives

I'm 60 and have been throwing stuff like screwdrivers and ice picks since I was about 7. Over the years, I've got a few homemade throwers made from ground down and sharpened hardened commercial lawn mower blades. These are Cold Steel throwers that they discontinued about 7 or 8 years ago. They...

There are a few small dents and scrapes on the wood stock, but it's not too bad for a half century of being moved around. I think the inlays give it character.

I will definitely keep it the way it is and probably trade it for something else of equal value. Thank you for all of your replies. After going to sakocollectors.com, I've found out it is an early L46 with a rare wooden stock made in that time period.

I got my first .22 rifle in 1966 when I was 11. I've been doing Civil War re-enacting since 1990 and own a few different types of guns. Been wanting to live fire my Enfield for awhile now. This is a great site with lots of info. Thanks.

    Thompson Center Armor Alloy Barrel

I bought a brand new Contender Armor Alloy pistol back in 1985. It has the 45/410 barrel with the screw in choke. Was wondering what it is worth today.

I have a Sako rifle in .222 that I picked up about 10 years ago, but never shot it. I recently was looking at ammo prices. WOW. The original owner shot just one box of bullets thru it and it's in pretty good shape. Would it be possible to rechamber it to shoot military .223? Would it devalue...
