That's my problem I was not using data specificaly for speer. I cross referenced two other 240 gr. JHP bullets and was working off of that data. For some reason I thought that would work. I will order a speer manual tomorrow and something to take my mistakes apart with. Thanks
My .44 mag ammo is less than 1.6" after I set the bullet down to the crimp grove. It's running 1.585 , is this enough to be a problem with a starting load? If so what is the best solution, crimp outside the groove? Im using once fired winchester brass and speer 240 gr. JHP, 8gr. of universal (...
I bought 2 lbs of Universal for half price today $10 a pound. They also had 2lbs of Herco for the same price. would Herco be a good choice for use in a .44magnum? Also when a reloading manual refers to Universal does that mean Universal Clays?
I just bought a new super blackhawk .44 mag and the front of the cylinder has the last 3 digits of the serial #. It states in the owner's manual that only guns with extra cylinders have the serial # on the cylinder. Do you guys think this means anything or are they starting to # all cylinders?
I like stainless Rugers, and if you are going for cool I think an Alaskan in 45/454 would be hard to beat. I would more than likely only shoot 45's in it,but just being abel to say that you have a 454 snubby would be cool.
I received an email today from Federal stating that the shells that I sent them split due to stress corrosion cracking, and that they have shipped me 4 boxes of ammo to try. So shoot Federal and if you have a problem they will do what they can to make it right. Verry good customer support.
I had that problem with federal .32 longs in my sp 101. Sent the emptys back to federal and am still waiting for a reply. I switched to winchester and have had no more problems.
If you go with the SP 101, one other thing to think about is that you get an adjustible for windage rear sight. So if she tends to shoot a little off one way or the other this would be a big plus. I have a sp 101 32 mag with a 4" barrel and a 357 with a 3" barrel. The recoil is lighter with the...
I would like to see more 32 H&R magnums, from different ammo makers and also a +p+ load for Rugers. I think my sp 101 can take alot more pressure than the factory ammo I have been using.
As it stands right now I have shot a box of Georgia Arms .32 H&R magnums, and a box of Winchester .32 S&W longs (50 each box) with no problems with the shells. I am almost positive that it was bad brass from Federal that was causing my problems. I am still waiting to hear from Federal about the...
Don't know if the grips are the same size or not. I have a sp101 and you would have to have some really small hands to get all three fingers on the grip. My hands are about averge and it's more like 2 and 1/4 fingers on the grip.
Federal emailed me back and wants my address to send replacements and also wants me to mail them the split shells. I talked to a lady at Ruger and she said the only way for them to tell if it was the gun was for me to send it to them. I asked her if she thought that I should try a different...
I'm going to talk to ruger tomorrow see what they say. I also emailed federal. One thing that makes me think that it could be the shells is that the brass that ruger sent with the gun looks fine. I asume that it is the one they test fired it with. I know that is only one chamber, but all the mag...
I just shot my new sp101 .32 mag today. I was shooting federal classic ammo in .32 mag and also .32 S&W long. The mag ammo brass was swelling some and a little hard to eject. This did't bother me to much, but when I shot the longs (only 6) the brass on two of them split open and were very hard to...
