    Hamilton Rifle

Thanks unklebuck. I don't intend to shoot it. It has a rifled brass insert in the barrel that I certainly don't trust. I'll keep looking for a forearm.

What about the Ruger Precision Rifle?

Thanks for all your comments. I do have other semi-autos (in 308 even) for SHTF purposes. I’m still seriously looking for an RPR.

    Smallest handgun you’ve owned

I have the NAA mini revolver in 22 WMR. Also a Colt Junior and a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket Hammerless, both in 25 ACP. They're pretty small.

Zastava M70 owners, need your assistance

I bought a M88A in 2018 a couple of months after purchasing the M70. It's a more robust pistol, Tokarev style, in 9mm with a mag disconnect. I really haven't had any problems with it.

Zastava M70 owners, need your assistance

Yes, the machine marks inside the frame are very rough. So far the pistol shoots okay, although I haven't fired it much or in awhile.

What about the Ruger Precision Rifle?

I recently purchased a Ruger Precision Rimfire Rife in .17 HMR. What an accurate and easy shooting firearm! Even with my 75 year old eyesight and an economical Sig Whiskey scope, I could easily fit groups inside a quarter at 100 yards. I'm thinking about getting a Ruger Precision Rifle in 308...

Zastava M70 owners, need your assistance

Interesting problem. I haven't shot mine enough to reveal any extractor or magazine issues, but I did have one issue right off the bat when I purchased it - light primer strikes (or more accurately "no primer strikes"). Gunsmith and I disassembled and found the firing pin to be about 1/16 inch...

    I like stars

I had a Star "43" in Starvel finish, like Old Dog. It was tight and smooth shooting, a little heavy, a "Firebrick" for sure. I never had any functional problems with it, but I traded it out because I could never shoot it well. The point of impact just seemed to wander (more than my aim). I...

Breathing life back into old milsurps

As few months ago I saw a badly sporterized Lee Enfield No. 4, Mk1 at my local FFL dealer. I mean I could still see the saw marks where a previous owner cut off the end of the lower forearm. But the barrel and action metal seemed recoverable. After ordering new forearms, barrel bands, etc., I...

What firearm have you owned the longest?

In the early 1980s, I bought a Ruger New Model Single Six convertible from a hardware store in Georgia for $85. Still got it.

Thanks Mrmeval. Numerick is out of stock and the first link is unresponsive. I'll keep looking.

    Hamilton Rifle

I inherited a Model 27 C.J. Hamilton rifle. I know the history of these rifles, and have restored it as much as I can, but I'm missing the small forearm. Short of fabricating one myself, does anyone have a lead on a source for that spare part. I've search several sites but all the ones likely...

    Armslist Missing the boat

If you read Armslist's FAQ, they have a lot to say about scams by folks listing (selling) firearms. But they say little about scams or frauds perpetrated by buyers. The only advice Armslist gives, which is good advice in all cases I think, is to sell your firearms locally, in person. In the...

Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP

Update on Colt 1908 Hammerless in .380 (Type III bushingless). With help of a local gunsmith friend, he was able to disassemble the pistol in an "unconventional" way. Recoil spring and rod were not damaged. Strongly suspect the barrel is a replacement as the internal groves and bushing did not...

Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP

Thanks for everyone's help and comments. I did buy the Colt knowing of the problem, and now I'm trying to fix it. I called Colt, and they believe that I have a kinked recoil spring which will prevent disassembly of the pistol in the normal way. They don't repair their antique firearms, but...

Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP

Thanks to you both. I did check the barrel and it seems okay, no apparent bulge. I know how to disassemble the gun, but thanks for your suggestions. I'll try them. The recoil spring does bring the slide forcibly forward after trying to rack the slide rearward. It's just that something is...

Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP

Here's a puzzler. I have recently acquired a Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless pistol chambered in .380 ACP. The SN shows the handgun was manufactured around 1921. Condition is pretty good, actually, about 80% with much of the dark gray-light bluing still visible. The problem is that the pistol...
