    Rifle carry on bicycle

Bicycles have seen much military use in Finland during the 1941-1944 war and after that even in UN operations. They are still used in conscript training. After all they offer low maintenance, decent speed even in poor roads and are very quiet. Picture from Cyprus 1964 UN peacekeeping operation.

    Prvi Partisan Bullets?

I have used them for couple of years. Mostly their .30cal HPBT 190grain and .30cal spitzer 123grain bullets for 7.62x39. Even their .303 british is good for Dragunov SVD/ Tigr 7.62x54r being .311" Bullets have some deviation in weight but quality vs price is good. And of course you can...

    Worth it to Reload 7.62x39?

I definately recommend making handloads for 7.62x39. I started it myself last year with a Lee anniversary kit wich was around 150$ and is the cheapest starter kit available here in Finland. Brass i bought at first but after the first winter i lost 60% in to the snow. Nowadays i use the brass...

    Surplus 7.62 inbound

Have seen unopened old boxes by VPT (finnish for State Ammunition Factory) in caliber 7.62x54r from 1943 and the cardboard box had a big red stamp over it that said "Sinoxid primed". Sinoxid primers are still used by Sako and Lapua and are non corrosive. So if the powder was the normal N140...

    **762x39 with Wooden Bullets**

Those finnish wooden bullet blanks are made from balsa wood and will completely turn into dust before exiting the barrel. The reason why wooden blanks are used in finland is simple. Our kalashnikov variants Rk62 and Rk95 do not have chrome lined barrels or chambers wich makes impossible to use...

    Winterizing America's Rifle (AR)

During my service in Finnish army we were instructed that freezing and melting of weapons causes condense water that changes the mixture of lubricants and causes weapon freezing. After cleaning the lube that is applied should be good for extreme cold. Anti-corrol sold here works up to -60c...

    CZ quality?

CZ is the Kalashnikov of pistols CZ 75 SP 01 Reliability excellent, ergonomics superb, trigger action- long like glock 17. Used two 75B before this SP01. Older ones had less tight tolerances. This newer sp01 is really nicely finished. Reliable still affordable. Accuracy is good. Mine...

    WW2 submachine guns

Suomi M/31 since the PPSh-41 drum was a copy of the m/31 drum. 9x19 has enough power to pierce 4" of pine tree after 200m when fired from the 314mm barrel. Quick change of barrel with barrels numbered 1-9. Replace the barrel with the same number as the gun and you don't lose accuracy. Each...

    Favorite movie gun quote

ww2 finnish veteran was asked: "What was the rate of fire in suomi KP M/31?" (kp=submachine gun) The expressionless response of the man was "Twelve corpses in a minute." http://guns.connect.fi/gow/suomi1.html

    Mosin Nagant attack!

Looking at the picture one can see the nice hue of the birch stock. Stock seems to be thick finnish birch. Sling mounts in the finnish stocks were made suitable for ski troops since it was and still is only way one can be moving in the "stick hell" four months in a year.

    Mosin M39 from AIM; WOW.....

Well of course they are good craftsmanship being the last of its kind. The M39 was the last real mosin-nagant variant that was made in Finland. The Mansner sight alone in the rifle did cost over 400$ in present day money. Almost all have been used during wartime or in conscript...

    Finn-diferously (as in M39) good!

m28-30 I happened to find a M28/30 from my local gunshop last fall. It's made by SAKO in 1934. Was only 250$ probably because previous owner had changed the stock to a M39 stock. It has S.k.Y stamp but no [SA] so it hasn't been in the last wars for some reason. I looked up the price for...

Soviet PPSH-41...not much info out there?

Here's the weapon that made russians wake up saying they needed a submachine gun like the PPSH-41. The 70rd drum in PPSH-41 is a copy from the m31 suomi 70rd drum magazine. Unlike seen in the picture m/31 is never to be fired from the shoulder. If standing it should be fired from tightened...

    Best AK-47?

In Finland we have used our own AK variants called RK-62 and RK-95 since 1960's. Its very familiar to all male finns since military service here is obligatory for all men. All the rifles have atleast the accuracy of 3" to 4" inch consistent groups from 150 yards. The later RK-95 designed 30...
