    Remington 572 Fieldmaster

Thanks for the information! I like mine a lot - I inherited it along with a 1967 Wingmaster and would love a 760 to round out the collection! I’ll see if I can grab a picture tomorrow.

    Remington 572 Fieldmaster

I’m trying to date a Remington 572 I inherited from my dad. I understand the Remington dating system (I think) but mine doesn’t seem to conform. The left side of the barrel has a sideways 9, then what looks to be a small V, a G, and then a space and another larger V. any ideas?

    Wing master Barrel

Standard frame, it looks like. X-prefix on the serial number and a quarter fits through the barrel lug.

    Wing master Barrel

I’ve got a 1970’s era Wingmaster that I inherited from my dad that I want to take grouse hunting this year. I usually use 26” O/U’s and this has a LONG mod choked barrel on it. I’d like a shorter IC choked barrel. Can I buy an express barrel to use on this or does to have to be a Wingmaster...

    Walmart rifle closeouts

I think I got screwed today. I went to Walmart and the assistant manager was at the club fee. Asked if he had any Axis’s - he told me one .223 for $124. I said I’d take it - he did some more typing on his iPad and told me it was actually $199. Hmm... I passed.

Your Range open? If YES, post here!

Th This picture brought back memories! My grandparents lived in Manton and we used to come to this club for pancake breakfasts when I was a kid.

    New Reloader (Hopefully!)

I picked up a RCBS JR3 press, RCBS Uniflow Measure with a stand, RCBS beam scale, set of .223 dies, some manuals, and another assorted small odds and ends for $100 today off Craigslist. Super nice guy, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years. My goal is to load for for .450...

    Southern Michigan Deer Rifle

Range report - it shoots better than I can! I didn’t have much time before the season to put many rounds through it, but I was confident enough to hunt with it. At two hundred yards I could keep it within 5 inches. This is my first rifle except for an AR-15, so it’s been a learning curve. Two...

    Southern Michigan Deer Rifle

8 months later... Here’s what I ended up. I’m glad I went this route since to me it’s a “real” rifle I can use in Southern Michigan, or really any other big game in Michigan with the ranges we have here. .450 Bushmaster in a Remington 700 action with walnut stock, Shilen barrel, and Timney...

    Southern Michigan Deer Rifle

There’s some great information here - thank you. I’m currently using a Thompson muzzleloader that gets the job done well and I have no complaints about, but am looking for a gun that I “enjoy” hunting and shooting with. The M77 is about as close to what I’m looking for as I’ve seen. Thank you!

This is exactly what I’m looking for. $650 isn’t bad at all!

    Southern Michigan Deer Rifle

Thanks for the welcome! 45-70 is a no-go for southern Michigan, since the case is a little too long. I think you can trim the case and shoot reloads legally but that’s beyond me right now.
