Awesome. If one is going to sporterize, might as well do it 100%.

    .30-40 Krag ammo

Yeah I could have phrased that better. It sounds like .30-40, .30-30, .308 etc use the same bullet diameter.

    .30-40 Krag ammo

I'll buy from local stores for now, and may consider reloading more seriously if I become more proficient in the rifle, and when I have more time and space for another project. I did some searching online. It seems one benefit to reloading .30-40 Krag is that there are many more possible...

    .30-40 Krag ammo

I understand that Remington supposedly releases a batch of .30-40 Krag yearly in the Fall, but despite setting up multiple alerts and notifications, I haven't found any online this year. Some of my local gun stores have some, but not much. Where do you find your .30-40 Krag rounds? (Reloading is...

5.45 surplus ban abolished with Trump presidency?

What is 5.45? Is there a surplus of it? If so, why is it banned, and from what?

What knife are you carrying today?

My weekend carry around the homestead is a Victorinox One-Hand Trekker (serrated), and my day job carry is a Kershaw 1660CKT Ken Onion Black Leek. The Trekker is too big in my pockets and the tools are unnecessary at my day job.

    Krag sling

Thanks for the great information! I'm just going to order a reproduction 1887 Springfield Trapdoor sling. And then learn how to shoot with a sling off-hand...

    Krag sling

I've read some other threads and articles about this, but I'm just trying to find a simple, basic, functional and not necessarily historically accurate sling for my Springfield Model 1899. It has the sling loops attached. I'm looking for something that can be used to assist shooting and...

    First fall squirrels

I just started hunting squirrel this season, using a .410 single shot with #6 shot. I haven't seen very many squirrels even though there are a lot of acorns and some hickory nuts around, but I did hear some barking last time I was out. I was going out in the afternoon, but last time I decided to...

    The Migration

Good effort. I look forward to Tapatalk connection. I noticed that I can't find the blog in the top results when searching "the high road blog" in Google. Maybe that is by design.

    Tkka T3X stock

Also consider when people mention the T3, that the T3x stock has some improvements: http://www.tikka.fi/rifles/tikka-t3x Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

    Tikka T3X in Stock

I thought Tikka twist offerings were shorter than most common comparable rifles. Also IIRC, on the Tikka site there's a spec sheet of all combinations of muliple twist rates per caliber, trigger types, etc. Of course it might be difficult to get some of the specific combinations of features in...

    Tikka T3X in Stock

1:8" - I haven't put enough ammo through it yet to know what weight bullet it prefers, but I'm guessing a heavier bullet.

    Tikka T3X in Stock

I have a Tikka T3X Lite .223 with synthetic stock, stainless steel barrel and a Zeiss Terra 4-12x scope. It performed well out of the box. I got it as an all purpose rifle for around the homestead and for recreational shooting. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
