147gr Speer Lawman Supersonic from CZ75 Suppressed

So I've had some Speer Lawman 147gr for a couple of years now and went out in the field on my property to try it out with a CZ75 4-1/2" barrel suppressed. I was pretty surprised to still here the crack echoing. I don't have a chrono so wanted to ask, does this surprise anyone or would it be...

Uberti Revolver - Steps to Smooth Action

^^^ This is awesome! Thank you so much, Driftwood. Now I just gotta get me a stone and take a very close, careful look at things. I'm excited to smooth it out a bit. This is more information than I'd hoped for, I really appreciate it. If I run into issues in the process I may reach out again.

Uberti Revolver - Steps to Smooth Action

I have a Uberti manufactured Taylor's & Co. "Stallion" in 38SPL, which as I understand it is a slightly downsized Colt SAA clone. Anyway, I've had a few Ubertis over the years and have 4 now, and they have been very, very smooth actions. This one, however, feels like it has sand in it when you...

    My 1911-380 issues, troubleshooting, progress

Mine have all been "full-size" (if you want to call it that) and not the compact. I'll also report that since my initial woes, and ever since I discovered that mine prefers "long" ammo, I have had zero issues with it. None whatsoever. Except for one day, just out of curiosity, I put some of the...

CZ 75B w/ Factory Threaded Barrel - Enough shoulder for Suppressor?

Thank you MachIVshooter. That's good info for me, because I was basically assuming that "bottoming out the threads" would be bad news for either the piston or the barrel. Good to hear from a gunsmith that it's not something to be concerned about. I'll just ask one more question: I spoke to...

CZ 75B w/ Factory Threaded Barrel - Enough shoulder for Suppressor?

I just fitted my CZ75B-SA with a new threaded barrel from the CZ website. I've also just finished shooting it with an Osprey 45K. Noticed I had to re-tighten the suppressor a couple times. I did a bit of reading and noticed a few people saying that the CZ75 barrel isn't large enough to provide...

FFL Types or, "No you don't have to "have a class 3 permit" to buy a machinegun/sbr/etc.".

Thank you. And what about purchasing one (Form 4)? Same answer, I am guessing?

FFL Types or, "No you don't have to "have a class 3 permit" to buy a machinegun/sbr/etc.".

So my question is: I have a Class 1 FFL license. If I want to make a suppressor, for personal use, do I fill out the "Form 1" like everyone else, as individual or trust? Or is there some other process? Just didn't make sense that I'd have to do the fingerprinting and passport photo thing again.

Can't adjust elevation on new Vortex Crossfire II

Thanks, Skylerbone. That was my suspicion. Just boxed it up to go back to Brownells.

Can't adjust elevation on new Vortex Crossfire II

Just mounted a new Vortex Crossfire II on a new Howa HCR. Put my laser bore sight in just to have a look and get it close before heading to the range. It was low and right. Was able to grab the windage and click right over to proper place, quick and easy. Grabbed the elevation knob and started...

Howa HCR in .308 - Short or Long Action? Proper Base?

Ooops, that link was for the "long action"---I meant this one, which appears to be the EGW Howa Short Action rail: http://www.egwguns.com/scope-mounts-rings/hd-howa-1500/wby-vanguard-short-action-picatinny-rail-mount-20-moa-ambidextrous/

Howa HCR in .308 - Short or Long Action? Proper Base?

Thank you jmr40. So in your experience, would this mount be the appropriate mount for a Howa HCR? http://www.egwguns.com/scope-mounts-rings/hd-howa-1500/wby-vanguard-long-action-picatinny-rail-mount-20-moa-ambidextrous/

Howa HCR in .308 - Short or Long Action? Proper Base?

I've been a pistol guy but would like to delve into rifle marksmanship. Used to have an RPR (Ruger) and it was nice, but sold it to pay bills. This time around, came upon a Howa HCR in .308 and it is on its way. One question I have is that I need to find a mount, and I can find a rail for a...

Stiff Loading Gate - Uberti Open Top 38spl 1851 Navy

My apologies. This is the one I actually have and, right or wrong, what they are calling it: http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/hand-guns/cartridge-revolvers/1872-open-top-early-model-conversion-revolver/open-top-revolver-1851-navy.html

Stiff Loading Gate - Uberti Open Top 38spl 1851 Navy

Here's what I'm looking at on my Uberti Open Top 1851 in 38spl: First thing I noticed was that this loading gate was terribly stiff in comparison to my Colt SAA models, which are super smooth and easy. But it is also a different design as far as tension goes. So my question is, should I just...

Browning 1911-380: Important Info for Buyers

Encouraging to hear that others have grappled with similar problems, even in other firearms and calibers. I also appreciate all the comments and observations. Always an education at TheHighRoad! I'd love to post this over at the BrowningOwners forum, but as I mentioned in a previous post, I...

Browning 1911-380: Important Info for Buyers

“The barrel and action of this pistol have been made with substantial safety margins over the pressures developed by established American loads. However, we assume no responsibility for incidents which occur through the use of cartridges of nonstandard dimensions or those developing pressures in...

Browning 1911-380: Important Info for Buyers

Good question. I'll check my manual when I get home, but aside from what I find there, you may have to ask Browning.

Browning 1911-380: Important Info for Buyers

I tried something like this. Modified follower to allow a wire to run up front of mag to hold rounds back. I've seen this done on other firearms, but it was at the rear of the mag. Problem with my mod at the front was that the round nose of the bullets shoved the wire off to each side. You could...
