Lee Classic Cast Turret - how good?

turret production I do .45acp on a Lee turret. I only charge/expand, seat, fcd on the turret. I start with primed/sized brass. I've got a pretty ergonomic setup for brass and bullets and I get 50 every 12 minutes, or 250/ hour. I would not feel comfortable (qc-wise) going faster than this...

    .45ACP variant question

Please bear with me--if you have time and patience A .22lr has about 130 fp of energy leaving the muzzle. A .45 has about 370 fp. This should somehow be proportional to the energy that the slide mass, recoil spring and mainspring have to absorb when cycling these handguns. Yes/No? The...

How did you get into reloading?

Why I started as an experiment. It's fun It's satisfying. It's part of the Zen of the shooting hobby It's also rewarding to save money cuz I'm a stingy SOB.

    .45ACP variant question

Ruger again Thanks for the technical explanation(s). "The Ruger .22 is a pure fixed barrel blowback, locked only by the mass of the bolt. It is in no way a copy of the Nambu, and its resemblance to the Luger, while deliberate, is totally superficial; the pistols operate entirely...

    .45ACP variant question

,45 Luger re: .45 Ruger Thanks for responding. That was Mike Krause. http://www.krausewerk.com/ I don't know if he still makes them. They were ~10k-12k. I guess the recoil/bolt action is similar with a different spring mechanism.

    .45ACP variant question

Can anyone shed any light on this issue. I have always liked the Ruger MkI/II pistol action for .22lr. It was somewhat copied from the Nambu/Model 14 Japanese sidearm which I think was 8mm. My question is: has anyone ever developed, or tried to develop a .45acp using this type of action...

    Using a Chronograph Indoors?

Another issue I have the Chrony light and it works indoors about 60% of the time. Lot's of ERR on the monitor. I don't know about your indoor range though, but at mine the firing line is fixed and the targets are moveable. The Chrony seems to be severely affected by .45ACP muzzle blast*...

Do you size/prime off your progressive?

A related thought. I decap size and prime on the single stage. This is .45ACP. I used to use the autoprime on step two but now discovered the Lee safety prime with the Lee Classic CI press. That little flimsy plastic POC is amazing in its reliability and simplicity, and turns step one and two...

How much does the Safety Prime speed up turret press production rates?

turret use This is precisely how I am set up and very close to my production. I am very happy with the set up and the process. I usually size and prime one week and charge, seat and crimp the next week. I still am going to install a safety prime on the single stage just for grins and...

    Lee Classic cast turret Question

Lee indexer Here is the 4 hole clamp and ratchet. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/hpcc19/leeIndex.jpg They are not idiot proof and will break. The ratchet square is only $.25 to replace, but I would vote for making it idiotproof. An idiot:D broke mine while trying (but...

AA#5 meters consistently with the autodisk The Lee videos tell you how to adjust the dies. http://www.leeprecision.com/html/HelpVideos/video.html Funny thing is...they give different info from the turret die setting directions which are different from the FAQ die setting directions.:banghead:

Deluxe Lee dies are carbide? Seriously?

powder drop expander die Lee has an expander plug in the powder drop die. Are other powder drop dies set up this way? When properly adjusted, the die expands the case just enough for bullet seating and then drops the powder. In my experience (.45ACP) the process is very smooth...

Deluxe Lee dies are carbide? Seriously?

Lee Auto Disk I have found that new brass(Win) sticks like the devil in the Lee expander/powder die, but fired brass is smooth as silk. Starline brass works fine even when new.
