BulletMatch, a Catalog of Cast Bullets

And it's just a really good looking bullet!

What was your first marksmanship badge of honor? .....

Starlings and sparrows are both exempt from the law. Neither of the two are native, both invasive enough to have spread across the continent in just a few decades.

    What did you shoot today?

Took the 1941 Sako Finn M39 to the 300 yard line this morning. My load for a home cast 192 grain bullet runs at just under 1700fps, so a bit of trial and error was in order. I ended up with the issue sights at 800 yards, with a .002" feeler-guage shim tucked under there too, to get the...

What was your first marksmanship badge of honor? .....

My first 100 in competition. 100-6x at 200 yards, issue iron sights, "rack" issue condition. M96 Swede, a 1900 Oberndorf. Not bad for being in my 7th decade, and shooting a 120+ year-old rifle.

    PPC revolvers

I'm fairly certain I've posted this Bill Davis 10-5 here before - And a view of the hand work done back in the day; a hand-soldered trigger stop.

    Waiting Time for Suppressor Approval?

Is this a typo? Why celebrate more than a year for the approval? Or are you simply happy it finally came through?

Yesterday in the barn, AKA: melting stuff is fun!

I'm here to tell you, 80 pound sacks of concrete weight much, much more than they did 40 years ago. ;)

Yesterday in the barn, AKA: melting stuff is fun!

Well, it's a small town, and I spent a good deal of time cultivating a relationship with my former supplier. It's a dang shame they closed down. There are a couple other possible sources relatively nearby, and I have made initial, tentative forays into obtaining wheelweight from them...

How much forcing cone erosion is too much?

In my opinion that revolver needs to be re-barreled. If it were mine, I would, in this order: Send the pics to Ruger. They may agree to re-barrel it for a nominal fee. I don't know what the chances of retaining the accuracy would be. Or purchase a used barrel. What or one of the gun...

Yesterday in the barn, AKA: melting stuff is fun!

I said the bucket of CWW was about 75 pounds. The ingot buckets had about 50 pounds in each. A full bucket of CWW is well over 125 pounds, usually over 150.

Yesterday in the barn, AKA: melting stuff is fun!

I was in on the very first group buy on CastBoolits, back several years ago. It was a long wait; the design was being finalized, and he had to get enough purchasers to meet the minimum. I don't think this design is available anymore, I think he went with the Redneck Gold design for...

Yesterday in the barn, AKA: melting stuff is fun!

The last of the Clip-on Wheel Weights (CWW) Probably 75-ish pounds, already sorted. More than likely, and sadly, the last I will ever get - aside from the odd one or two I find laying around. And, from an older fella that will not be casting anymore, some purchased CWW ingots- Each of the...

New turret press under development with 3/4/5/6 configuration turrets

Yeah, them primer arms are different than what is used in the LCT, or any of the other older presses. I see what you mean. This is what I get for popping off and sounding like I know something. ;)

New turret press under development with 3/4/5/6 configuration turrets

Is that a plastic (nylon) toolhead that the primer arm drops into? If so, I would be less concerned about the slot itself, and more concerned with the primer arm. I took all my primer arms and polished the sides with 400 grit wet sandpaper. Lay the paper on the bench, wet it, slide the...

    How Cheap Can It Be?

I loaded that way for years. A set of Lee dies - that come with an instruction page and a dipper - a Lee hand press, and a bottle of Clays powder. No manual, no caliper, no scale, no tumbler. No problems. I shot thousands of rounds that way, for years. Of course, this was long...

38 Special in a strong revolver

I have one of the Ruger SP101 revolvers made for the French Railroad Police. They are chambered in 38 Spl. These revolvers are identical to normal SP101s, except the markings and the cylinder not drilled to accept 357 Mag. If you want a modern, small(er) revolver that can handle any sane 38...

HS6 Data Differences in 357 Magnum

The right loads - I. E: at the right pressure levels. I routinely push right past the "lead" bullet levels with HS6. I am in the middle of jacketed data with both 357 and 44 Mag using HS6, and this with a cast alloy around 10-11 BnH. I don't know why Hodgdon stops at such a low pressure...

What have you done in the reloading room today

I sorted two gallon-sized zip bags of 223/556 range pickup. I decapped the keepers, and I'll continue brass processing at a later date. I don't own a semi-auto 223/556, consequently I don't chew through 223 as some folks do. I don't need 2 or 3k pieces of brass; a few hundred is plenty. I...
