New (old) rifle on the way

You sure can, I had a range set up in my garage, me and a couple of mates practice there a few nights a week, the plunger type targets are easy to build and the bell can be made self setting. Theres nothing quite like the buzz at a big comp, some great parties after too

It was quite big over here a few years ago, Must of the teams were clubs, pubs companys all shooting in one league or another, I shot in the Birmingham League, was the biggest in the land lol, where it all started back around 1900 . there were inter league comps too, the best of each league...

New (old) rifle on the way

Hi. No its the type, the way its built and set up, the one in the picture is prob a top of the line job built for top level comps. However a lot of the design and changes are age and cost related, the wooden stocked type you have is the 70/80 design targeted at general and informal target...

New (old) rifle on the way

10mtr match rifle, Very nice haven't seen one since my league days in the 80s The way to shoot it is to prop your left elbow on to your hip, lean back and rest the fore end on finger tips, no recoil for them so wont jump about

    Im surprized

A week ago I bought my first airgun since the 60's. Wasn't sure what to get or how much to spend, know nothing of modern guns so thought id start off small and not spend more that £3/400. I wasn't expecting much at that level and bought what I thought was a cheap Spanish rifle. A Gamo Coyote in...

Didn't work, well not true it did work in low light but in full daylight you couldn't see the dot more than10/15 yards, and in bright sunlight it was almost impossible to see unless you were right on the paper. Back to the drawing board with this one. I got a feeling this will be more than a DIY...

    Sights for .303 Enfield

The Mk1* was a cost cutting exercise and speeded up production, a lot of the late Long Branch were built using Savage parts bought up when Savage stopped production. 2 groove V 5 groove, we were talking value , shooting wise theres not much in it

    Sights for .303 Enfield

An early SMLE ( pre 1919) has greater value than a No4 unless the No4 has a (T) in the markings, count your grooves best barrels are 5 groove, If it is a No4 with a "T" check the receiver and barrel for small chisel register marks Made by the gunsmith that regulated it for sniper use. If the...

    Sights for .303 Enfield

If its an SMLE it would have had its rear sight mounted forward of the receiver , if its a No4 look for two lugs on top of the very rear of the action, if its a No4 you are looking for a Singer Mk V about £30 on Ebay, lots of them about. There is a Canadian rear sight very much like the Singer...
