Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

How does the red dot compare with the peep sight for accuracy at ten yards?

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

That would put the outside diameter of the 953 at about 0.7" to 0.72" all else being equal to the 499b. I tried out 0.75" with a homemade globe and it did not work. But mine is a bubble gum and bailing wire job and can't take any inserts. I am done with this thing for the time being, but I do...

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

I thought about what you said about the 953 globe being bigger and realized that you were referring to the OD not the ID. So I did not buy it, and made one from scratch to OD of the 499b globe. Used a Sharpie marker top and that bondo with the fiberglass (hairball). It would have been...

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

I will try the 953 globe and put on a washer with a smaller hole. The 5899 doesn’t do so well with a blade front sight. Not for me anyway. I get groups in the .5 to .8 range then a flier out sideways for a group of 1.2”. I don’t remember having these problems in the 499b. People say its...

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

Hi to all - this forum has been the most fun for me, though my efforts are crude in comparison. I am trying to get my Sheridan Cowboy to shoot half inch groups but not there yet. Have weighted the gun, polished chamber and spring, added open gear grease and an extra washer on the spring...

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

New to this forum - I have enjoyed all the posts, looks like some real engineering going on here! I have the Marlin and RR bb guns and notice that the air tubes have a very loose fit in the shot tubes. Can they be "tinned" with silver solder to enlarge the OD, or maybe heat up the end and...
