Do lever action rifles jam if held at an angle or upside down?

My Browning BL22 doesn't function upside down -- sideways is OK.

22 degree angle deburring tools (VLD) with .223rem?

No concern, Snuffy, I was trying to see what others were doing. I'm presently using the VLD myself, as it seemed the logical choice. So I thank you for your reply. I've been loading handgun for a few years (never needed to trim), and this is my first bottle-neck loading. So I'm learning...

22 degree angle deburring tools (VLD) with .223rem?

Which deburring tool to use inside the mouth of a .223rem trimmed cartridge? The "VLD" 22 degree angle one? The "standard" two ended tool?

Methods to ensure correct trim length in rifle brass (.223rem)

Paperpuncher, thanks for the good explanation -- I guess it is similar to setting the seating depth on a pistol seater die: trial & error.

Methods to ensure correct trim length in rifle brass (.223rem)

Folks, I am experienced in pistol loading, but am only now loading necked rifle brass for the first time. I have a Redding 1400 case trimmer, but the instructions do not clearly explain how to adjust the trim-to length. The company is closed for vacation until next week. I was hoping...

    Powder for 223 in AR

What primers does he use? And is he using a semi-auto (military) type of rifle?

    Powder for 223 in AR

USP FAN, is this a ball powder? Will it meter consistently? Another thing: is this IMR 4895, or H 4895?

    Powder for 223 in AR

Fastbike, I've done the research, and only Speer calls for magnum primers with the H335 specifically. Neither the Hornady, not the Lyman manuals give the magnum recommendation. So, I'm asking for some input on that. I guess I'll phone Speer or email them to get an answer.

    Powder for 223 in AR

Thanks, Doug. I didn't realize it. Only the Speer book mentions magnum small rifle primers for the .223rem.

    Powder for 223 in AR

"H 335 and magnum small rifle primer." Doug B, I see the Speer load manual says to use SR Magnum primers with this powder in .223rem, but no other load manuals share this recommendation. Can you or others give us some more info on this? Thanks, from a curious mind who wants to know.

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Thank you. Sorry for the questions . . . ordered a trimmer, bullets, etc. Maybe within a couple of weeks we'll chronograph our first loads.

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Can you chamfer & deburr on the trimmer tool, or do you do it by hand? If you do it by hand, will you increase inaccuracy? Is there a way to fit the chamfer/deburr tool onto the trimmer tool?

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Thanks, RC, I'll pass on the tubular. And I'm getting some nylon, some FMJ to start out.

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Another question . . . would the various ball powders (H335, AA2460) measure more consistently than the extruded tubular powders ((Varget, IMR-4198)? Or is the powder grain shape not a big deal?

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

In a Bushmaster, do polycarbonate tips work better than FMJ for feeding and in the magazine; or would a FMJ be the best feeding bullet type?

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Thanks for trying it . . . looks like I'll stay with the 10X for the time being. If I go beyond .223, then a larger measure will be needed.

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

So, maybe one drop plus a trickler-dispensed charge to make up the balance?

    243 . . . thanks a lot for that link!

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Yes, I know one has to actually try each type of powder to see how much will drop, etc. But " am asking, as a general rule, if one only occasionally loads in excess of 25 grains, would it be OK to simply double hit the drop, or must one buy a larger powder measure, even when you rarely use the...

    typical bullet for Bushmaster .223?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but, as I said, I'm a pistol loader . . . I have a Redding 10X pistol powder dispenser (designed to drop 25 grains max). I'm going to help a buddy load some .223Rem. Should I set it up for two "drops", or do I need a new powder dispenser? Bear in mind, I'm...
