They cost more because....it’s an A Team thing!

Magnum Rifle - Is there a sweet spot?

375 H&H is a great all around cartridge that isn’t too punishing to shoot. Not sure where OP comes up with components hard to get, cause they are widely available and reloading is pretty straightforward. I haven’t had the chance to try the Ruger 375, but looks promising.

    Gun stores closing.

I’m sure shops may not have a choice if goberment can’t keep enough people working on background checks, saw the applications where up 300%. Not sure where they do the background checks, but guessing big city where they are hardest hit with flu.

Seven month waiting period... now that's long

It may be awhile before you have spare cash once you start shooting that Sharps. I had a repo and it was a blast. Should be a rifle to be proud of.

new to me ruger #1 45-70 picked up today.

I’ve had 3 number 1’s and the 45-70 was my favorite. The others were 375 H&h and a 458 Win Mag, with the latter being way to hard on the shoulder. Ruger number 1’s are great rifles, handle well and are very accurate. If your a reloader, running the bullet out to almost the lands can really...

    45-70 Black Powder Reloading

I always used FF powder, with a slightly compressed load. I can’t remember how much powder, you will just need to experiment. It’s not like smokeless where it’s easy to overcharge, but you don’t want to leave an air gap. After shooting I would pop out the primer then wash the brass and dry...

Have you ever had a rifle you didn't like?

Ruger #1 in 458 wm , it really wasn’t because of the rifle brand, action,or style, just couldn’t handle the 458 wm cartridge. The recoil from that cartridge and maybe the stock shape didn’t do well with my shoulder. I’ve had 375 H&H and 338wm that are not really that bad, but the 458 was too...

    Rifle Assembly

If you can’t do the work yourself and have to pay a “Smith”, then you should start out with a new barrel for your build. The barrel and action are the heart of a build. Talk to a smith, show him the barrels in question. Do good barrels cost money, yep, sure do. Having a rifle built “for” you...

    257 Roberts improved

Remington 722. $280 After further consideration, I’m passing on it due to extreme looking wear on the bolt with possible issues with extractor. Personally I don’t want to deal with an improved version when there was nothing wrong with a standard 257 Roberts caliber. Dealer has no idea about...

    257 Roberts improved

Don’t know about this rifle the more I think about it. I can rebarreled it, but not sure it’s worth it if I also gotta restock it too, I’m not keen on Monte Carlo stocks. It’s all work I can do, but lots of cash to dump into it and may never get back out of it. I’ve been looking around for a...

    257 Roberts improved

Found a 257 improved rifle but not sure it’s worth buying. I assume that I will need to do a casting of the camber to see what’s really been done to this rifle. What if I wanted to get some headspace gauges? Will I need special hs gauges or will regular 257 Roberts gauges do the job? It’s an...

Crossroads time. Give up HIPAA rights over new gun? Washington state laws

HIPPA laws don’t seem to be stopping google from accessing people’s records. Apparently laws whether state or federal don’t matter if your on a certain side of the political line.

Glock modification - dumb idea or what do you think?

Don’t forget that if you are using a Glock for carry that if it is altered, even for a safety, you could run into legal issues if a shooting occurs. If you want a safety, sell the Glock and buy a gun with one.

Anyone built a filntlock or percussion cap pistol using a kit?

Jim Kibler sells a couple nice kits that are easy to build and offers some of the best wood available, it all depends on how deep you wallet goes, both rifle styles are flintlocks. Some folks are leary of flintlocks, but Jim uses some of the best locks out on the market. Pecatonica makes nice...

    muzzleloaders

I’ve got several 50’s. My Hawken will get 90gr 2f, but can do well out to 100 yards with 75gr. My usual flintlock with a 42” green mountain barrel does just fine with 75gr of 2f. I only use round ball. I usually stick with a certain load once found whether it’s accurate or if recoil becomes...

    Contacted my State Reps

It can’t hurt. I’m still hopeful that since the Republicans still have control of everything but the gov seat, that they will use some common sense in just letting Evers spout liberal talking points. This issue is based on emotion, with time and clear explanations of the effects of red flag...
