    870 Extraction Problems

I took my new to me 16 gauge Wingmaster to the range today. I was shooting Herter's ammo in it from Cabela's. I experienced the following problem when shooting it: Patterns really well. However, it has some extraction issues. First round extracted normally and ejected like a champ. The...

Glock 29 Closed Slide Position- Possible Problem?

A couple weeks ago, I brought home my used G29SF. I found it at a local shop for a great price. I was looking forward to shooting it, possibly tomorrow, and while looking it over noticed that it is very different from my two other Glocks (22 and 27) in that it appears that the guide rod is not...

    Winning with the WASR-22

Every month at the local light rifle match, they have a 10rd, offhand, side match for iron sighted rifles*. Typically, I will shoot that side match with one of my ARs equipped with a drop in .22 conversion- or one of the various other older rifles that I have. I decided to try my WASR-22 for the...

    Uncle Mikes Kydex Holsters

I am thinking about buying one of the Uncle Mike's Kydex holsters for my USP. Pricewise, they seem like a decent deal since there doesn't seem to be the gluttony of affordable second hand leather available for the USP as there are my other pistols (smith 3rd gen, 1911, etc...). I would probably...

    Front Sight Riser Height

I bought a Stevens 416 target rifle, taking advantage of some promos and Cabelas Bucks, for a decent price at the local Cabelas store. It came with the dovetailed Stevens tombstone front sight and what I later identified as a Redfield rear sight mounting block (sans a sight)–– the (appear to be...

    Metalform 1911 mags

I was thinking about buying some Metalform 1911 mags. Before I do, I wanted to confirm that they have a good reputation. Is there any particular configurations that are know to have problems? I was reading that they make Colt's OEM mags. Is that true?

    Safariland Synthetic Holsters

I was looking at an ad for a Safari Land #328 synthetic holster. These holsters are leather lined and are supposed " look and perform just like their Leather counterparts and they resist wear much better than leather". I generally prefer leather holsters, but I could see some benefit to the...

    Saiga 12 Questions

I am looking at this Saiga 12 that is comeing up for auction this weekend: I see that the ones on the RAA site are externally threaded for choke tubes. Are any of the non-external threaded guns threaded for chokes? The ad doesn't specify the bbl length. Would I be correct in assuming...

    Yesterday's Targets

I decided that I would share my targets from yesterdays light rifle match that I shot. Just a fun club match, but I shot a 277 (out of 300). I've done a little better, but this is one of my better scores. COF is 30 rounds (2 per bull) at 50 feet, standing, no slings/support allowed...

    Chiappa Puma 1911-22 Review

I have had my Chiappa Puma 1911-22 for a little over a month now. I bought the pistol from Mid-West Hunter’s Outlet/TGSCOM for $253 plus shipping and transfer. It seems Buds has them in stock now for $256 including shipping. After the first blurb I saw for the Chiappa in American Rifleman, I...

    Check out my new 6906

Overall, the pistol is in excellent shape, with the exception of some minor wear on the bottom front lip of the frame. I like the configuration. I didn't think I would like the Hogue grips, but they feel amazingly good in my hands. I'm not crazy about the Gould and Goodrich small of the back...

NAA Companion Revolvers with wallet holsters determined to be AOWs

I believe that I may have mentioned this Tech Branch letter in previous posts on this (and other forums). However, I wanted to make the full text publicly available for the sake of clarity and knowledge. Additionally, the concept that a concept that a muzzle loading "disguised firearm" is an AOW...

No Loaded Long Guns in Public (follow up to OC thread)

After reading the locked thread on "open carrying long guns" I believe that there is one thing that needs a little bit more consideration that folks don't seem to make. That question revolves around not whether it is legal or not to have the implement itself in public (aside from the potential...

    RAT 5 ESEE Review

I have like Jeff’s designs since the first time I saw them in the BQM catalog, through products made by Ontario. Getting an Ontario RAT-3 shortly before RAT cutlery came to exist, I ultimately ended up pre-ordering an OD Izula from Chestnut Ridge. Waiting for even the opportunity to place a...

    Range Report: H&R 365 .22LR

Here is my original thread, showing off my new acquisition: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=5601844#post5601844 I have since taken it to the range twice. The first time was simply to function fire it. I learned that day that it did not like high velocity. Federal Bulk Pack came...

Check out my new H&R 365 .22LR Single Shot

Basically, this is a pretty simple single shot .22LR rifle that I picked up used on the cheap- $90 including sales tax. While browsing at a local gunshop, I found this little gem sitting on a rack with a number of other inexpensive, used .22 rifles. I like peep sights and aside from the price, I...

    Attention Clip Nazis!

I know you guys just love it when a poster here calls a magazine a clip. You make it clear how non-interchangeable the terms must be. Before I showed you that Marlin calls them clip-magazines. Then I found this gem that I bought for a Remington model 581 .22LR bolt action rifle--- You'll...

    Triple K Magazines

I was wondering what type of reputation the older (later 1980s/ early 1990s) Triple K magazines have. I have an oppertunity to buy one of their hi-caps for my Marlin .22 semi-auto, and it seems like a steel mag would be a better prospect than the Ramline plastic mags- which I am afraid those...

Some great performance from old Flite King

I was using my High Standard K1200 Flite King Brush. Rifle sights, cylinder bore. I was shooting 1 oz rifled slugs at the bullseye target. The low shot was mad prior to a sight adjustment. Range was 40 yards. I shot a box of Remington OO buck at the Q target. The first 3 shots were taken...

5.56 Bullet Drop at CLOSE range

Ideally, my plan is to check before I ever do apply it, but I want to get some idea of what sort of drop to expect at 10, 15 and 30 feet. I'm using a carry handle rear sight on a 20" A4. 55 grain ball ammo. My rifle is zeroed at 50 yards.
