Do you display your firearms and related collectables?

My mid 1960’s High School Arsenal on home display in North Georgia. Photo taken with me on leave after graduating from Fort Benning Basic Training and before Jump School. From the top: Savage Stevens Model 22-410 Over-Under, Winchester Model 290 Deluxe 22 Semi Auto, Winchester Model 94 in 30-30...

    .22wrf and .22wmr

Here’s what the two different cartridges look like: 22 WRF (Winchester Rim Fire) Vs. 22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire) or more commonly, “22 Magnum”.

Do you display your firearms and related collectables?

    My guess……7.7 Japanese Arisaka stock.

    Do you like "Pretty Guns"?

Also this early Springfield Armory M1A National Match four digit Serial Number. I paid a whopping $330.00 new in the box for it back in the day. This consummated my love affair after meeting my Basic Training M14. Got carried away with extras, love will do that.

    Do you like "Pretty Guns"?

My prettiest lady is this mid 1960's West German Weatherby Mark V Varmitmaster in 22-250 REM that I bought new in a US Army Rod & Gun Club while stationed over there. Cost me all of $155.00, no tax, imported home for free by Uncle Sam. Complete with the sturdiest box you'll ever see, papers...

I Just Made A Front Sight Out Of J-B Weld…..

Sometimes all you need is a small package that gives off a big BOOM and spits out lots of smoke, sparks and flame (and a lead projectile). A high velocity 22LR does that every time in this severe snub nose RG-14 . It's actually a fun little revolver so I'm guessing you were never one of "their...

    Remington Nylon 66

Bought my very first one in 1966 at the local Sears Store for $49.95 full retail. The lady took it off the wall....it was on display, receipt says "One Gun"! Still have the rifle and the receipt, no paperwork, no serial number. Re-assembly requires two men and a small boy and even then a perfect...

I Just Made A Front Sight Out Of J-B Weld…..

I don’t routinely buy Saturday Night Specials but since any gun is better than no gun when you need one, this little Double Action RG-14 Snubbie in 22LR followed me home many years ago. The front sight on the 1 3/4” barrel was so low I couldn’t hit paper even at short range. I mixed up some J-B...

Random Gun Pics...let’s see how random we can make it

Probably as Random as you can get...I got this from a Dealer who acquired it out of Alaska. The previous owner shortened the barrel, removed the front sight and drastically cut back the front of the stock. The muzzle was expertly re-crowned thankfully. Why all this? To have this last ditch 22LR...

In this latest "panic buy," did you over pay? If 'yes,' why?

So, after seeing this little Kel-Tec 22LR semiauto featured in The American Rifleman last year, I just HAD TO have one. Only $199.00 suggested retail but totally unavailable except at "auction" prices. For 6 months I bid and failed at various sellers and finally won this one for $354.00 out the...

    Ammo carry type

You are correct! My Velcro sounds like I’m ripping a ream of copy paper when opening it. The only consolation is…..I’m only opening it after firing a shot (or two) to reload and replace fired rounds. At that moment that little Velcro noise is a moot point.

User opinions on slip-on recoil pads

Check out these slip on pads and then I’ll explain…… These were issued with the French MAS-49/56 service rifle after WWII to be used as substantial recoil reducers when the rifle was used in the Grenade Launcher mode. Now shift gears to the realization that most shooters of the Japanese Arisakas...

    Ammo carry type

For Rimfire Ammo this ancient block of rubber with a total of 52 holes was made for carrying any mix of 22 Short, Long or Long Rifle Rounds. It will even bend slightly to fit in my Bluejeans back pocket. No Markings, no idea where I got it and I’ve used it since my teen years, now over 60...

    Ammo carry type

For Centerfire Rifle ammo I use this folding, Nylon and Velcro belt pouch. Probably the same as described above. Shown with mixed ammo for illustration only, never carried with mixed rounds. 22-250, 7.7 Japanese, 30-30.

User opinions on slip-on recoil pads

Although it’s not true in all cases, I have seen some very sad “soft” recoil pads, especially on heavier long guns, that were flattened and distorted from long term storage sitting buttstock down on hard surfaces. Now go check yours. Your welcome!
