    De-mil 45 powder?

Seems I have some catching up to do... Well holy carp I hope it's not that! <<< How old is that anyway? ETA: (nvm, saw that answer a few posts later...) It was $92.00 for 5lbs, shipped, no other taxes or fees, hazmat included. Came to $18.40 /lb delivered. And since it's a de-miled...

    De-mil 45 powder?

But as I said- who did the testing for that powder for ARL? I wonder where that data comes from. --geez, I really have to get to bed. I'm looking forward to see what ARL has to say.

    De-mil 45 powder?

jm529- yeah, you're right. I was just struck by the close resemblance. Alliant shows 5.8 for 849fp with a LRN. I'm certainly not saying it -is- Unique, but I am curious as to what it is and what I can do with it.

    De-mil 45 powder?

Just got 5lbs of generic pistol powder from American Reloading. I know it's a bit of a gamble, but it seemed like fun for a good price. Came to $18.40 total per lb shipped. I'm sure many of you have seen the ad: ".45 ACP Pistol Powder #6 (De-mil) Charge: 5.0 gr Proj.: 230 gr FMJ Avg Vel.: 850...

    COL question 9mm

Holy carp. This is why I love this place. I would have to pay money I don't have to go to a school (where?) to be taught like this-- and at that, I don't know that I would be able to find the depth of knowledge and breadth of perspective found here so often. Thanks guys. ...sorry to interrupt...

    Cleaning Old Corn Cob Media.

Well, just to contribute to the fun-- WrongHanded, I got your old pillowcase right here! :D Wouldn't want to disappoint. No washing machine though. I have a couple of old flannel pillowcases I use after tumbling. Throw the brass in there, give it a couple of shakes and it keeps all the dust and...

Re:1911 plunger tube repair from 2021

Thanks for the offer BBBBill. We'll see what it feels like after a couple months. It's really not too bad as is, just a touch more resistance than I was used to.

Re:1911 plunger tube repair from 2021

Hey folks- I've been mostly absent from THR for the last year. I came here to read a bit, but didn't post. I had several issues which pretty much kept me preoccupied. At one point I didn't get to go shooting more than once or twice for almost 8 months! Anyway, I had a thread in this...

Northfork Tactical SPP Unis Ginex import

Just chiming in here-- I was only on the hook for $75.00, so not really a big deal except...I wanted those primers! I had to wait until after work today to request a refund, and got a response from North Fork in less than an hour confirming cancellation and refund. I have yet to check my CC...

    Pulled bullets from American reloading

My experience- it's a bit of a gamble, but not a bad bet. For the price, I've usually been happy. Almost no incorrect caliber bullets in what I received. I did get one batch of 230gr plated .45acp pulls which had been so badly crushed (as FROGO207 said) that some of them fell into the sized...

    Trimming help/information/advice

Sorry- I wasn't trying to be a grammar nazi...I was referring to your listed case length measurements. Are you really trying for 1.1750"? Or 1.750" ? etc., et al..."1.1748" Shouldn't that be "1.748" ? I know everybody probably knows what you mean, but to avoid confusion...

    Trimming help/information/advice

For a while I was getting odd variations in .223 cl that didn't always seem right. Someone here once advised using a soft abrasive sponge to just barely swipe the case mouth over, after trimming and de-burring, but before measuring. I use the 3M 'fine' grade all purpose large size wet/dry...

    Tumbling live rounds

I only rarely tumble live ammo for personal satisfaction, or to make some non-reloader's eyes bug out: "You made that?!" :D

    Tumbling live rounds

I feel sure those guns didn't explode just because they tumbled the ammo. There was some other problem.

    Powder scale help

Pahonix-- I have had that second scale you ordered for a year and a half. Mine is branded Frankford Arsenal. The one I have definitely has quirks that can cause inaccurate measurements until you learn it's habits. For instance, it is sensitive to cold temperatures- they cause rapid...

    Tarnished Brass & Tumbleing

Re: h2o2 and baking soda: ok, I went and looked that up-- apparently that mix creates a weak sodium hydroxide solution- lye. No wonder it eats tarnish. Not something I would do regularly- just tried once or twice with really nasty brass. The acid I was thinking of is peracetic acid, which is...

    Tarnished Brass & Tumbleing

I save out my chocolate tarnished pistol brass to load with lead cast, then tumble polish the ammo. I love that look, it's almost steampunk.
