I'd rather have the paper trail than pay the exorbitant auction prices like folks around here pay.
Not to derail this thread, but perhaps to piggy-back...and maybe @Old Dog can shed light?
Auctions with guns around here draw Amish folk out of the woodwork. They pay insane prices to avoid the...
Why I stop at a lot of yard/garage sales. I've bought a bunch of stuff over the years that wasn't in the sale because I casually asked if I saw hunting or fishing related items.
Quite a score!
Depends on if carrying an extra is considered changing.
I do carry an extra quite frequently. On vacation, I typically have 4 mags for my primary carry and 4 for the backup. There's also an extra 50 rounds for each in the rear storage area.
And I can tell him for certain that what they may do in one animal doesn't in any way guarantee they'll do the same in another animal. Even animals of the same species. Or you can tell him. Either way.
Not sure, but the diagram posted definitely helps. The 9moa dot at 25 yard steel plates should cover roughly 2.25", but the 4" plate is really hard to see. Something like 2.25" of actual dot surrounded by .75" of fuzzies due to astigmatism. I mostly just use it for 25' bowling pins which is more...
Worked on getting stuff set up today with the intent to load some rounds. Had trouble getting the new to me 5-0-5 scale zeroed. Dug out another 5-0-5 I have and mix-matched parts to no avail. Old scale is noticeably heavier but identical in appearance. Old scale zeros fine with beam, tray, etc...
I've got a Trijicon RMR with 9moa green dot. 9moa seems huge when you think about it, but it's not meant for Bullseye shooting. It's fast and I really like it for speed games. Lately I've been using some of the Holosun that have multiple reticle options built in. Large circle small dot, small...
They don't all use batteries. Some are Tritium, just like those night sights. Trijicon RMR has something like a 15 year life span. The quality optics that do use batteries have pretty serious battery life. I change mine when I change smoke detector batteries, which is today. (Thanks DST). Some...
I'm usually decent at finding stuff. I'm the one who's always stuck looking for the things other people misplace. If I could have all the time back I've spent looking for my wife's keys, glasses, wallet, debit card, medicine, shirt she just bought....whatever. I'd be a legit 6 months younger...
That's what'll happen with this stuff after I'm done. It'll be clean and usable but not fancy, just like when I got it. But it'll help someone get started reloading for a fraction of what it would normally cost.
And I'll be reminded why there's a progressive press sitting there not getting used...
Yeah, I mean I stumbled upon the press. Didn't need it at all, but couldn't NOT buy it for $20.
The rest of the stuff I've picked up since last Saturday afternoon...except the primers and powder. I also knew a couple places to go look vs just clicking on a website and breaking out the bank...
Yes, I'm definitely not saving money on the first 500. Unless you compare loads with the TMJ bullet to the Sierra Lawman factory offering...over $200/500
Don't ask me. Not my gig. Ask the guy that's working that particular problem. He checked in here. 😁
I don't expect to see a difference. Just...
The threads regarding cost of startup and whether decent ammo can be made on cheap equipment got me started on this. My goal?
500 rounds of .45 ACP completely from scratch.
I could have gone in there and loaded thousands with stuff I already have, but I approached it as if I had nothing. And I...
