So if you wanted to live in a van....

I had to look that one up, westernrover: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newhall_incident Sad story, that one.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

I like the 9mm 1911 idea Someguy. I think I would need a small bus instead of the van for the rest of the arsenal, though.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Thanks for the offer, and for the info. on the differences in grips for the Rugers Smaug, much appreciated!

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Thanks, Smaug, for the thoughtful ideas on the Redhawk! You got me thinking about the Ruger single and double actions, and 44 special in particular. I like the simplicity and ease for handloading for the bigger bore single and double actions, and having a heavier handgun to handle recoil would...

Shot Wadcutters, wow, I’ve been missing out!

That's my experience for sure, larger revolver helps as well. Carpal both sides for me, so I can relate. Hope you find a good solution so you can keep shooting.

Sorry Marine Dad, I misread your post.

Shot Wadcutters, wow, I’ve been missing out!

https://www.cheycastbullets.com/ These folks make the coated 148 gr. DEWCs for 38 special that I used today for the first time. Good folks and great product.

Shot Wadcutters, wow, I’ve been missing out!

Tried wadcutters for the first time and I have been missing out! Loaded 2 sets of 10 test rounds with 2.6 grs. and 2.9 grs. of AA#2 with 148 gr. DEWCs and CCI primers. The lighter load had better tight grouping for 7 rounds, with 3 fliers due to operator error. The heavier load cut nicer...

Where are Reloading Components Available. (Not a Discussion Thread, Link Required)

https://www.cheycastbullets.com/ Been a while since I posted this link. Mom & Pop outfit that makes a variety of quality coated lead bullets. They have excellent customer service. Looks like they have free shipping on 4000 count 9mm, 115 gr. LRN right now based on their web page.

Thanks DMW, I have RCBS dies, and I imagine that would work for me too.

Shot Wadcutters, wow, I’ve been missing out!

Thank you for the great thread and all the information! You have inspired me to load some wadcutters for my Ruger GP-100. Our local vendor sells 148 gr. wadcutters for $42.00/500 coated lead bullets, so I am going to give it a try. It is hard to tell from the previous posts whether the...

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Thanks LiveLife, I haven't heard of any 22 conversion kits for the Shield, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

That is not too shabby at all for accuracy. I have a good stock of CCI, so that might work. Just need to get a Glock first! I have been thinking about a Shield Plus as an option too for 9mm. Not sure what the difference in recoil would be like between say a Glock 19 and a Shield, but I am sure...

Thanks LiveLife, I like that slide kit idea since space would be at a premium all the time.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Sweet rifles there, Brian! I had a Marlin 1894cs in .357 that didn't like to feed 38 specials, so I sold it off. It really liked hollow point .357's though. I think a Henry 22lr lever-action with a shorter barrel might work in a vanlife situation as well.

Thanks Brian, what caliber(s) for the Marlins?

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Rexter, I too like the GP-100. I picked up a 7-shot GP-100 when I retired (posted previously, see below), and really like the extra mass and the quality. I also really like the idea of the SP-101 (sold my old one after thousands of reloads through it). I also camped frequently out of small...

I ordered one from them too, swoter, and it worked just fine for me.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

I like having that option too, matttric, thank you. I would think the 22 WMR would be fine in that role, joneb, thanks! Thanks flightsimmer, I imagine a rental would be the best way to try out the vanlife lifestyle if a person had the freedom and finances to do so.

So if you wanted to live in a van....

Hi dogtown, I understand how this thread might seem odd if you are not living in a van. My guess would be that one would want information on the best options if they were contemplating vanlife, thus the thread. If you have any constructive comments, I would be interested in seeing them.
