A bit of looking around will likely net you your first 2 rifles for that budget. I strongly recommend a basic bolt action 22 for a first gun. Semi auto is fine and dandy but I believe you will burn ammo at a excessive rate where as the bolt gun will 'prolly see you actually focusing on accuracy...
