    $5,000 rifle scopes?

    Yep. Agree totally.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

Yeah, yeah, nuff of the insults from you. I've also seen enough of the apparent tests of your camera. Bye now.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

As far as glass goes (the raw product, not finished lenses), scope manufactureres all buy from the same companies. Both Leupold and Vortex say they buy the type of glass they need from various glass manufacturers depending on their needs at the time. Hoya, Schott, etc all make good glass...

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

I used to for sure. I spent like 300 bucks for a scope in the 1980's and that was some pretty serious money.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

Okay, let's give this a shot again. First, I am in no way interested in how you spend your money. Spend a hundred grand on a scope and it's fine with me. Your money and your desire. Like you said, worth is subjective. I have thousands of dollars in astronomy equipment sitting here in this...

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

Well, okay, I give up. Can't get my point across so I'll stop.

    Load development vs plinking ammo

Ditto. Wouldn't mind it, but time is running out. My list of "that's neat, I'd like to learn that" far exceeds my remaining years. It doesn't help that I keep adding stuff to the list.

    Bushnell Scope Trouble

I hope you are pleasantly surprised. My experience was great. I had a 1985 Scopechief stored away for about 35 years. I yanked it out and it hadn't aged well so I sent it in to Bushnell. I ended up with an Elite Tactical LRTS-i! I think that was a smoking deal and I am pro Bushnell for...

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

I am an amateur astronomer and dabble in astro photography, so I am fairly familiar with optical concepts and quality concerns. When I threw the Axis out there, I wasn't referring to the Axis II Precision. I was referring to bargain basement hunting rifles. Insert your favorite cheapo in...

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

What hopes? And who said anything about Filipino scopes? By the way, who makes the 5 grand scope and where is it made? I am slightly confused about your preferences as you mention $3000 German scopes and then talk about how you own Kahles scopes. Anyway, thanks for supporting my point about...

    Load development vs plinking ammo

Buy a flintlock rifle. Cast your own ball. Knap your own flint. Mix your own black powder.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

You are lowering the performance of the $200 rifle? And you don't have place holder scopes laying around already? I find that hard to believe. I always have one or two sitting around. I guess it's possible your place holders may be busy already.

Ah, the everybody else does it too principle. There is a certain beauty to it.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

That is the key right there. I hope nobody actually thinks that the aluminum, glass, steel, and whatever else comprising the parts of a $5K scope are really worth that much more than the same types of parts in a $600 scope. Also, you would have a hard time convincing me that there is a $4500...

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

Well, in that case, use a place holder scope on the place holder rifle.

I am not a chemistry professor, but I don't see how citric acid changes lead.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

How about this for a rule? Don't spend more on a scope than the vehicle you are going to carry it in.

    $5,000 rifle scopes?

The version I heard was don't spend more for the scope than you did on the rifle. A $3000 scope on a $200 Axis doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Has Leupold went downhill?

If you have a rifle that likes to travel backwards as fast as the bullet is travelling forwards, Leupold glass is a good thing to have on it. Leupold doesn't skimp on the eye relief. Some other brands do. Someone commented earlier that a modern Leupold isn't as good as a 20+ year Leupold. I...
