Today I took the Lyman out with a heat gun and cleaned out all the old lube, and discovered a broken O-ring in the bottom. Also it's a 450 and not an old 45 that I thought it was. So I ordered a couple sets of rings for it, and also got 5 tubes of White label Carnauba Red lube for it. Ready to...
I have some guns I don't shoot, but in this state to sell legally they must go thru the transfer BS. It's something I don't care to do cuz of the travel, expense and hassle just to get it done. And I enjoy showing them off to my fellow gun friends who only have one or two guns and I can show off...
Mounted to the heating plate, which is secured to a century old oak 2x10 plank that is my part of my bench top. Painted aerosol blaze orange in 1978 when I was 15 years old at the time I built it. Rather proud of it.
Interesting. My room is in the basement, usually around 65-70 degrees. North Illinois. I'll give cardboard a try. My other Lyman 45 I used with SPG only lube, no leakage on that one.
Seems to leak now matter whether the heater is on or not. I usually throw the lever 2x every bullet to get the bullet grooves full, I don't crank on the screw lever much at all, just to not over do it. There is no temp adjustment on my heater.
I love my Ruger LW Commander in 9mm. I only changed the slide spring to a 12lber as the stock spring would barely cycle it, (tho it always did, never failed)
I like shooting at golf balls. Start out at 10yards with the pistols, once they get past 50-60 yards (usually after one hit) then its big bore levergun rifle time.
I've got some beads I'll try. And a different container with a seal. I'm not spending any more money on this project. More trial n error with what I've got.
