Picked these two up at a local gunshow last weekend. The larger knife is a Western Cutlery G46-6 Shark thought to have been produced just after WW II. Great feeling handle on this. The blade profile I like as well. The other is an Olcut made by KABAR. In very good condition with a Kabar sheath...
I have shot shorts out on my Remington 12 C punching holes in paper. The rifle has an old Weaver J2.5 3/4 inch tube on it. I can watch the bullet hit the target if I pay attention. Don't have a pic with the scope on it so this one will have to do.
The 1907 doesn't have a hammer, you mean the cocking piece.
Given that a previous owner(s) have messed with the gun based on the replacement grips and removal of the factory finish, there is no telling if the internal pieces are correct. You may want to write this off to educational tuition and...
If you haven't disassembled the breech plug, proceed carefully. The seer is spring loaded by a coil spring at its rear. The extractor is spring loaded by a coil spring acting on its bottom. The most delicate piece is the cylindrical striker spring capture piece that removes from the top of the...
PM me your serial number and I can then let you know which version of 1907 you have. There was a Savage Pistol book published a while back and details the changes by serial number blocks. I happen to have a copy. You will then know which seer you need. There were some changes made to them over...
Not true, there is resale value of some amount as any operable gun is worth something, especially these days. Getting you investment out of it is a different question.
Own a Model 61 Winchester and would recommend one that fits your budget and intended use if you find one that interests you. Very reliable, fun to shoot, and as accurate as any pump 22 you care to name. Action is smooth and fast. Maybe the Browning Trombone is equal.
Yeah, they're Democrats toeing the party line. The dems have it made. They keep selling the same load, they've been in office in Philly for over 50 years and nothing changes. Probably about the same in Pittsburgh. Once you have the two big cities in PA, the rest of the states' vote doesn't...
TF,
You're right, that fun store is Atlas Arsenal. Stopped there a year ago to check it out and walked out with a Remington TAC 14 20 GA pump. Pure impulse buy. Can't say about the mood of the salesman, seemed happy when I said, "I'll take it". I didn't know there were 3 other gun shops in...
You may want to look at the Savage Collectors board on the 24hr Campfire. You'll find an answer there for sure. I've never been a fan of the take down 1899's so can't help you.
Pike County is about 1.5 hurs NE from me, I'm in Lehigh County. Pike is mostly forrested. The big town, I think is Milford. It is a beautiful place but does get tourists in the summer, especially Milford. It wants to be an artsy fartsy kind of place. A gun store right off the I-84 if you use...
According to the Lyman #48 for one of the cast bullets, a 160 grainer, 27 grains of 3031 is the starting load and should get you near1600 fps. Wouldn't go higher than that unless you use gas checks.
You can spend more and get less, that's for sure. Taurus has upped their game in the last 5 years or so. Own a G2C that has been flawless at the range.
I am partial to the old slide action rifles and own a couple from most top brands. This one is a Remington 12 C with a straight grip butt stock. These were about 10 % of the total 12 C production.
My favorite gunshop is a hardware store (no pun intended) that has been in the same family for at least 3 generations, maybe 4. Wooden floors that creak when you walk on them. The gunshop part is on half a mezzanine. Will order anything but displays consigned guns and trades mostly. The family...
Went to a small gunshow this past Sunday specifically to find 32 ACP ammo and /or bullets and cases. Found all three. 2 boxes of older Remington loads, FMJ, $25 per box. Someone else was selling 32 Remington bullets, 71 grain FMJ, NOS in the 100 ct boxes, bought 5 bxs at 20 per. Bag of 100 once...
