    homemade case lube

Frankford Arsenal sells the Lanolin mix case lube. It works great, and goes a long way. Affordable as well. A $11.49 pump bottle (not aerosol) goes a long way. Probably cheaper and FAR less hassle than trying multiple different homemade formulations trying to get something that works well...

    Economics of Reloading

See the car in my to the left in my avatar? I'm 55 and have had it since age 15. Bought it for $1,300. It's been worked up from being really slow and rusty, to a 13, 12, 11, 10 and 9 second car with multiple engine/trans/rear end combinations. I don't DARE add up how much has been spent. I...

    .38 Special with FFFg Goex....

I've used FFF in both pistols and rifles since I was a kid. If it doesn't over pressure a pistol, it's not going to over pressure a rifle. BP burns really slow as-is, so I don't see any downside. I would shoot between 30 and 60 grains in the 50 cal CVA Mountain Pistol, and up to 90 in the...

    .38 Special with FFFg Goex....

Agreed! MUCH easier to set off black powder. The 'crunching' you sometimes feel in standard powder measures can be enough to set off BP grains... and once that happens, the entire batch can go poof. lol Is it still a requirement for outlets to store BP in a separate bunker outside the...

Half the servicos aventuras primers I have used fail

Sounds like you've convinced yourself, so there is no need to try and help.... BUT... Primers need to FIRMLY seat against the bottom of the primer pocket. Being flush with the base of the case is irrelevant. Just because something worked for you in the past with other primers doesn't mean it...

    .38 Special with FFFg Goex....

I'm 55. When my brother and I were kids, dad bought us all CVA Mountain Rifle kits. After shooting, the barrels had to be cleaned with hot, soapy water. I wouldn't subject anything I cared about to black powder unless that was all it could handle. Anything that burns that smoky is NOT...

Looking for advice on 55 grain 223 bullets

I have 600 Lightning 55g FMJ Boattail that I'd sell for $40 and free shipping if anyone wants to try them. I never tested them. They are relatively unknown, and YMMV. Not known as match bullets.

    STARLINE BRASS??

With the 300BO I loaded right out of the Starline bag, I test chambered it first to make sure it was fine... and it was. Should always test, and it never hurts to size if there is any doubt.

    STARLINE BRASS??

I purchased some 300BO brass from Starline... Didn't bother running it through a sizer. Primed, loaded, and worked just fine. If I were shooting Bench Rest or something super precise, maybe? I haven't had any issues. Load and go!

9mm brass length - how picky are you?

Not a factor here. I don't crimp it either. Resize, neck expand. (short of the flare) Insert bullet. DONE. I usually hit them with the deburr before seating bullets. Never an issue with FMJ bullets. For the price they can be purchased through RMR, there is zero reason to shoot plated, or...

    RELOADING THE 30 CARBINE???

I've read the Military duplicate load is 15.0 grains of H110/W296 behind a 110 grain bullet. RMR has affordable bullets, especially with their 10% off code that should run through today and tomorrow. Also free shipping. Code is: MERRYCHRISTMAS...

    110 grain 300 BO

W296 is what I have. I just said H110, as it's the same thing and more people seem to be familiar with it. lol I tested Lil Gun with 220 grain Berrys Plates when developing a subsonic load, and it did not do well. 10.5 grains of IMR 4227 was the winner there.

    110 grain 300 BO

Without the time and weather to do a full work up, I just did a little 'internet research', looked at load data from various sources and used some basic experience to come up with 20.0 grains of H110 at 2.04" OAL and a CCI 450 SRM primer. Max is 20.2 grains, and H110 likes to be loaded at/near...

    110 grain 300 BO

A friend of mine is wanting us to do a little Coyote hunting... so I'm looking for a good 110 grain Hornady V-Max load. Any first hand experience with what works well here... or is the basic answer a Max load of H110? lol AR15 with a 10.5" barrel. Thanks!

How times have changed over the years for cost's

The 'Spray and Pray' crowd was established by all the cheap surplus that came in from China, etc during the 80's. Dad bought my brother and I SKS rifles for $89 each and a Spam can of ammo in stripper clips for next to nothing. These imports allowed people to take semi-auto centerfire rifles...

How times have changed over the years for cost's

Costs for reloading supplies and loaded ammo have not been a steady increase. If you go back to the 50's and 60's... When adjusted for inflation, costs were MUCH higher. People really counted their shots back then. Reloading equipment was also much more expensive. It was much more basic as...

The myth on not saving when hand loading 9mm ammo.

One of my rules in life when I was single... was to never date/marry a horse woman! You'll always come second to the horse, and will mainly be there for the paycheck and all the caretaking! LOL This being said, I've always been into racing... which also has a way of consuming a TON of...
