School me on budget bolt rifles with iron sights

I have an MVP patrol that came with irons and a picc rail from the factory. It serves its purpose; I’m happy with it.

    Medical in range bag.

I do. I’m wired that way, having been a paramedic for nearly 30 years. It’s really minimalistic: a tourniquet, one or two 5x9 combi-pads and a roll of gauze. I don’t want anything I don’t have to have, and it don’t want it taking up a lot of space. No IV fluids or airway stuff. A few basic...

    Maverick 88 stock loose?

On mine, the recoil pad is held on with phillips screws, and the stock with a hex bolt (1/2 or 9/16, I think). Unless you find something wonky when you get in there , I wouldn’t fret about it loosening up. I used loctite. I also filled my stock with fiberglass resin to add some heft. I used...

    UGLY GUNS...

    I hated this…wish I had it back.

    What did you shoot today?

Today was Marlin day; my only .22s (rifle-wise) are Marlins, my only Marlins are .22s. The model 60 I bought in the early 90s when I worked at a LGS; it came in as a trade. After a good cleaning, a new trigger-guard (intended for a stainless model, and a buffer, it’s became a workhorse. The 39a...

    Question for Hellcat owners

Dusting off this thread. To the OP’s point, I checked locally today; the Hellcat is $20 cheaper ($549 vs $569). This is the Plain Jane version of each: no optic cuts…mine is an OSP, however. I installed the flush mag plate on my 11 round mag-it’s flush. Is the 10 round “more flush or recessed...

    Browning Auto 5

Got it. Like I said, I don’t know these shotguns. See the additional photos.

    Browning Auto 5

Fellas (and ladies) could I revive this thread? I’ll attach photos of a sweet sixteen with a serial number with a B prefix: B905xx. I’ve tried to do my due diligence, but am not confident in the date. I’m curious about some of the markings as well-see the pics. This belongs to my SIL who has...

Is it possible to shorten the stock on Maverick 88 by cutting it?

I filled the buttstock of mine with fiberglass resin, mostly for weight. I expect that it’d hold a screw for the buttplate and recoil pad. I might cut it down a bit too. By the by, I left a channel to access the screw/bolt by way of pvc pipe, which I later drilled out.

    Period optics on classic rifles

That one was inherited from FIL. It’s a .380. He hunted with it for decades. It still gets used.

    Period optics on classic rifles

I have no idea what this blued 3x9 is, but it’s passable and just looks right on this model 100.

Please help with shipping "Mossberg Q.D. Stud"

I had a standard set of sling swivels and studs that work just fine. I cut down the front stud to length so that it fits into the takedown screw. Since these are not speciality items, you may find a set locally.

Whats wrong with me, now I want a Rem 740/742

Checking GB, the price difference between a 742 and 7400 is marginal, based on actual bids. I can’t speak to a 742, but I have a 7400 30-06; I’ve never had a jam or failure to eject. It eats Super X and Core-Lokt. The thing is as accurate as I am paired with a period correct Japanese Tasco 4x. I...

    Ammo Choice for CC use?

I’ll throw my hat in the ring. I predominantly carry either of two pistols: SA Hellcat or G43. Both of these shoot center mass as well as I do drawing from the holster at 15 yards. A pistolero I am not. I run Federal Hydra-shok in the Glock; they run fine in it and I have some. I have...

    Hellcat owners, question

I like mine, but I don’t care for the grip texture; I know that they tout it as a selling point, but I find it too abrasive. The Hogue grip sleeve makes a world of difference. It’s a little wider, of course, but still super concealable.

If it were mine, I’d remove the extension. That’s just one guy’s opinion.

    How about some heavy hitters.

.41. This was about 0300 this morning. He thought it was a heavy hitter.
