    Thread adaptor for AKs?

I've got an AK I'd like to fit with a suppressor, but the barrel is threaded differently (standard AK reverse threads) than the suppressor I'd like to buy (5/8-24, M18 x 1.5, or M18 x 1). After some browsing through the web and searching THR, I've not found anything materially useful...

How will the recession affect gun purchases?

Good thing we got rid of recessions - stagflation is so much better! Obviously, the spike in costs of pretty much everything except houses will cause folks in my situation to spend less overall on non-necessities, though in my case, a larger portion of the "spending money" total will be...

Where to find 50 rd boxes of Speer Gold Dot?

If it turns out to be too good to be true, try Georgia Arms. They use Speer Gold Dot bullets and sell the ammo at a very reasonable price. My only quibble was that they offer only +P in 9mm, but then again, having tried it, I can detect no difference in felt recoil, so it no longer matters to me.

legal to own a suppressor? TEXAS

Six months isn't so bad compared to my wait: fourteen months. :| I can understand the delay, though... such a DANGEROUS piece of metal.

    Oops!!!!

Where did the "government" get the money to pay for all that? I can tell you: From people like myself, who knuckle under from the threat of imprisonment and/or death if we don't cough up the dough. Some people have the intestinal fortitude to say "no!", such as Ed and Elaine Brown in NH...

    Double-action trigger pull weight on new-make S&W Model 63?

To finalize this thread, I recently acquired a S&W Model 63. Its double-action trigger weight isn't as bad as the 317's, although it still is fairly stout. While I doubt I'll be using up bricks of .22 using just the double-action trigger any time soon, the trigger pull is manageable and fun...

    Discharge at the Show today

I believe you mean "when the owner left his booger-hook on the bang switch and squeezed". Don't fall for the syntactic trap.

What was your first firearm purchase?

Glock 17, along with two regular-capacity magazines. The '94 AWB motivated me to get off my duff and start buying stuff the "authorities" didn't want me to have.

Best Glock caliber for home defense

9mm is "slightly less pricey" than .45 GAP?? Most people practice with rounds such as Winchester White Box 115gr FMJs. At self-defense differences, I honestly can feel no difference between those and Speer 124gr JHPs. My wallet can sure tell the difference, though: fifteen cents per round...

15 yr old kills Family in MD

I'd dare say that if your "child" threatens murder, and there's a grain of will behind it, the kid belongs in a military school, locked up away from the rest of your family. I doubt you honestly believe the same atrocity couldn't have been comitted with, say, a bread knife (oh, because it has...

Contraceptives for deer, not enough hunters? Or trying to reduce avenues for RKBA?

Just brush and floss at least once daily. Far be it from me to encourage you to research 'dental fluorosis'. Nor where many municipalities get their sources of fluorine.

    Double-action trigger pull weight on new-make S&W Model 63?

I should pick up a scale just to satisfy my curiosity. I did some dry-firing on a GP-100, and I wouldn't be terribly suprised if its DA trigger was in the 10-12lb range, though it is a nice, sweet DA trigger in my amateur opinion. The 317's trigger was not up to par with the GP-100's, though...

    Double-action trigger pull weight on new-make S&W Model 63?

Personally, I expect MUCH better. If Ruger can manage a lighter trigger on a GP-100, surely Smith and Wesson can manage better on a .22LR wheelgun...

    Double-action trigger pull weight on new-make S&W Model 63?

In my quest for the perfect (or closest I can get) starter .22LR double-action revolver, I've been looking closely at the newly made S&W Model 63s. I like fact that they're stainless steel, but still only 28-29 ounces, and come with adjustable sights. The only thing I can't find any data on...

    NVD question from a newbie

BLAM! Take that, audit log timestamps! ;) I've really grown to love NTP (network time protocol). Never again will I have 15 computers, all running on different times.

Think Castle Doctrine Gives You Legal Right to Shoot....Think Again

The deadly weapon, a firearm for example, is to protect your life and limbs when you confront someone in the act of committing a felony, such as when Mr. Horn confronted the two burglars at the edge of his own property. If someone's not bright enough to freeze when someone with a big gun...

What's everyone's view on armor piercing bullets?

Hysteria. Your plain-Jane off-the-shelf run-of-the-mill hunting rifle uses ammunition which will completely defeat the vast majority of body armor in use today. "Shall not be infringed" includes the ammunition. Don't believe me? Re-read the Declaration of Independence, and pay close...

Man wants his $400K back from the FBI

Think Castle Doctrine Gives You Legal Right to Shoot....Think Again

A felonious crime is a serious crime that lawmakers have found to be so horrific that such crimes require more than a year of confinement as punishment. Breaking into a person's HOUSE is a felony... NOT a "petty crime". I sure did some dumb things as a kid - breaking into a (mostly)...

How do you label your mags?

I label all my magazines, mostly to track potential reliability problems, but also for tracking time between spring replacements, etc. Plastic and polymer mags get a small unique Roman numeral scratched on them. Metal magazines get marked with a Sharpie, and usually need to be "repainted"...
