Good day all.
I rember a while ago that some one made a list of the true BC of bullets but I cannot find anything on the internet now that I need it.
Can anyone possibly direct me to it?
Well according to most people Varget is burning to fast for the 95-100 and pressure signs starts early. H1000 is to slow and doesnt get up to pressure before there is no more space left for powder in the case.
Good day all.
Im starting to reload for a .243 win with a 1:10 twist 24" barrel, using 95gr SST. Hornady brass with CCI200 primers.
The problem is that I can not get hold of any powder that is known to work in the cartridge. In an ideal world I would use IMR or H4350 but currently the only...
Ive actually used both these sources to try and fined an answer. But sierra says the "uncoventional .27 ogive", ive no idea what is ment by that, needs a faster twist... Berger's calculator does say the bullet is flying stable.
Last time I checked the velocity on the 147 eldms they where running at 2950fps. But at that stage the barrel only had 30 rounds through it. It might have crept up close to or over 3000. The 142 SMKs was running at 2970 at the same stage. I use it as a long range targer rifle. Taking it out to...
Thats my thinking aswell. But I actually decided to skip the 150 smks for now. Its not woth burning valuable powder and primers that are very hard to find just for a .1 gain in BC over the ELDm
@Laphroaig Ive read an article where a guys shot them fairly decent out of a 6.5creed with a 1:8twist. Guess the only real way to see if they will stabilze is like @redcon1 said, shoot them and see. It looks like a bullet that will just fly forever aspecially at PRC velocities. A friend of mine...
Good day reloaders
Ive been looking into the 150gr sierra MK on my 6.5 PRC. Sierra says a 1:7.5 twist rate is requiered. Im running 1:8 twist. After doing some homework I found that Hornady and Berger says a 1:8 will shoot the 153gr A-tip and 156gr EOL just fine, the EOL is also longer than the...
Always good to hear from you loonwolf.
Well I havent worked with that rifle at all before this. And the 20 shots I fired I can not say Im impressed. Now according to the owner of the rifle it shot fine with other ammo (I havent seen the groups so Im going on his word) the staball looks like a...
So the load development did not go as expected. The powder does seem to burn nicely, some loads had where having ES's of round 10fps. But the bullets just doesnt seem to fly straight. Longer jumps did not really change things. Always end up with 1 flyer in a group. Wil have 3 or 4 rounds...
Thanks. I do have a chrono so Ill be shooting the loads over it later today. He has been doing the load development himself up untill this point and he doesnt have a chrono, that is the reason for not knowing the velocities.
Yes what Ive seen is that people say you must ever shoot these RDFs...
I did load some test loads shorter than what he has already tested. They are all loaded at longer jumps than what he was testing before. Hopefully this brings success together with the velocity data that I will be getting. I really dislike doing load development without knowing what my speeds are
@Hugger-4641 He doesnt have a chrono. So at this stage I dont know the velocity. He is very new to reloading. I do have a chrono and will be going to the range with him on Monday.
He has done OCW tests from 40-44gr in .5g increments. Around 43gr there as a group around 1¼ moa. Im thinking of do...
Will give that a try. Some people say that stabal is more suited for heavier class bullets on the creed and might be on the slower side for a 130gr bullet. Any truth around that? If I take a look at burn rate charts it does look to be a bit slower that 4350 type powders that is usually the go to...
Good day.
I assisted a friend today how is running a 6.5 creed in a Rem 700.
He is struggling with accuracy. The combo he is running is a strange one. 130gr nosler RDFs over Staball 6.5. I have newer used the powder or bullet. After searching on the internet, Ive found a mixed bag of reviews...
