Have you ever been struck by a ricochet?

Also at White Sands, my friend was shooting his 30/30 with jacketed rounds at a metal spinner target about 20 yards away. I was standing next to him. He hit the target, and immediately I felt an intense pain in my arm. I looked down and there was a pretty serious puncture wound. Had to go to...

    What's Up in Cinn, OH?

Well, I guess it depends on where you live in the area. I live on the Westside, and most people in the area are pro gun. While not technically within city limits, we still consider ourselves to be from Cincinnati. We are definately still within Hamilton County. Actually, I think once you...

Do any of you guys buy guns that have no practicality?

    I don't need 8 different .357 mag revolvers.

    Half As Many Love Revolvers...

    1. I like revolvers better. I prefer their aesthetics, in fact the only semi's that are appealing from a 'looks' standpoint to me are 1911's and Browning HPs. Whereas, just about any Smith, Ruger or Colt is appealing to me. I also shoot them more accurately and they seem to shoot more...

What repair have you sent your revolver in for?

Sent in two old S&W's even though they said they probably would not have parts for them. One was an old M&P that was out of time, the other was an older Model 17 that had too much cylinder play. Despite not having parts, S&W fixed both at no charge. That's great CS in my opinion.

New to pistols - seeking 38/357 advice

YOu should be able to find used S&W models 13 and 65 well within your price range. If your patient, you can find models 19 and 66. You can also find used Ruger GP100's at your price range, again if your patient. I personnally prefer the way the S&W's shoot and handle, but not by much.

    Heritage Manufacturing Inc

I have the aluminum framed with both cylinders. I also have a Ruger Single Six with both cylinders. I bought the Heritage new for $125 out the door. IMO it works well with both cylinders, and after about 1500 rounds, I have not noticed any significant wear. Is it as good as the Ruger? - no...

    Smith and Wesson warranty question

I bought an old M&P that had timing and lock-up issues. I called S&W's Customer Service who told me they would not have parts to fix it. I sent it in anyway. They fixed the problems and did not charge me anything for it. That's my only experience, but IMO that was exceptional Customer...

    best 44mag

I do not have a Redhawk or a 629, but I do have a Blackhawk and Model 29 as well as several other S&Ws and Rugers. For the most part, I find the S&Ws to be more accurrate and easier to shoot for me, especially N-Frames. Additionally, the 629 can handle ammo sufficient for deer and hogs all day...

Best (cheap?) DA .22 for shooting "quiet" ammo?

My experience shooting colibris and super colibris out of revolvers is that they are pretty quiet. Not silent, but pretty quiet. Maybe I've lost too much of my hearing, but I did not feel I needed hearing protection. The revolvers I've used were a Ruger Single Six w/ 6.5" barrel and a...

Sort of planning a purchase... 357 Magnum

I have several handguns, especially revolvers (several S&Ws and Rugers). My favorite of them all is a 4" S&W Model 28. It is accurrate, and handles anything I put through it with ease. It still locks up extremely tight with absolutely no cylinder wiggle.

    Conservative v. Liberal

Question: How do you tell the difference between liberals and conservatives? Answer: Pose the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you...

TOP 12 revolvers of all time

OK, I like shooting these 3 the best, so that's what I'll go with. S&W Model 28 Ruger Single Six S&W Model 19 My S&W Model 10 was a close 4th, but lost out simply because I cannot shoot magnums with it.

    Assistance Requested

My sister has an H&R in 32 S&W long. I'm not sure the model #, but it's in excellent shape since she only shoots it about once a year. I can't hit doo doo with it from 25 yards, but from 10 yards, I can keep the shots within a 5" plate.

According to the Blue Book, the High Standard was made by Dan Wesson, and depending on condition is worth $150-250. The RG is probably worth little more than $100. $250 for the Webley is in the ballpark, perhaps less unless in primo condition. The trapper is probably worth $50-100.

Let's get to the bottom of something

Jim March, thanks for the valuable explanation. I should add that of the 30 or so Rugers I've checked out (admittedly a small sample), while none lokced up like a bank vault, none had an excessive amount of play either. Out of the approximately 60 Smiths I've checked out, whereas about 8...

Let's get to the bottom of something

Just an observation, but I've handled several Rugers (and own a few), both SA and DA, both used and new, and none have ever locked-up like a bank vault. On the other hand, I've handled several S&Ws (also own a few) that have. For all I know, there is an engineering or design reason for this...

Handgun pictures: Let's see your recent best work. Ichiro style!

gbelleh, Thanks for the compliments. You have to act fast, when you have a 6-month old drooling all over himself. Maybe next time I can get him to model a few.

Not a great picture, in fact, you can see a part of a baby bib on the left. However, it's my one and only handgun picture.
