I have no idea where people even shoot anymore.

Are you close enough to enjoy shooting in the Allegany National Forest? We camp and shoot there often. https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/allegheny/recreation/otheractivities/?recid=6083&actid=106#:~:text=You are not shooting across, lawfully engaged in waterfowl hunting.

Ever Rediscover A Gun You Love, But Kind Of Forgot About?

Like the OP, I rediscovered my duty gun. In my case it is a 1988 West German P226 that I replaced with a P229SAO after leaving law enforcement. She got new grips, new sights, and a Grey Guns trigger last year and runs better than new. Carry her every once in a while in a Galco Miami Classic holster.

Is there really that much difference 115 or 124gr for the 9mm

The answer to the 115 vs 124 grain argument is to me no different than the Winchester White Box vs. $2.00/round super duper great gazoo self defense round argument. And my answer is that it just doesn’t matter as much as the ammunition manufacturers want us to believe it does. If I double tap...

    Greatest invention in firearms history

I can make a steel gun without polymer. But I can’t make a polymer gun without steel. Put that in your Glock and smoke it!

    A300 vs 1301

Nope. I shared the same concern before I bought my A300. In actual use, it has been non-consequential.

Looks like Centerfire Systems dredged the bottom of the river for these used guns.

Maybe they are marketing these to the interior design community. These all look like they could be found hanging on the wall at Cracker Barrel.

Why I Think Open Carry Isn't Wiser than Concealed Carry (In Most Instances/For Most People)

I taught weapons retention and take away techniques as part of our firearms program when I was an LEO. My request for additional training time was not well received by leadership at first. But once I showed them video footage of criminals in a prison exercise yard teaching each other how to...

    Plinker's Paradise

Yep. Have to agree with you on that one. We also like to chase cans with bird shot and blow up water jugs or whatever comes to mind with buck shot. It has given me a great perspective on just exactly what a 12 gauge load of 00 can do.

    Plinker's Paradise

This is what my son and I did one day the week after Christmas. The rifle is a Remington 572 that I got for Christmas when I was 12 in ‘79. Handgun is a more recently obtained Buckmark. We don’t have much interest in shooting paper, so I got some rimfire steels. We also like to shoot Pringles...

    Plinker's Paradise

Thanks for sharing. That sounds like a great time. I still train a lot with my defensive firearms, but find myself spending more and more time plinking away with .22’s. It was not uncommon to tear through a full brick every weekend when I was a kid and believe that played a big part in...

What 9mm Defensive Ammunition do You Carry?

Several post state that the writer’s choice works well, works great, is effective, etc. I am curious as to how that is determined. Actual shootings? It always goes bang? Just trying to understand the criteria behind the ratings.

    9mm 1911 ,who would want one ?

    I have a 1911 in 9mm. Love it.

I think our gun rights are about to come under heavy attack.

Sorry to hear that. While we are doing well overall, this is one of the battles that must not be abandoned. Which state?

What 9mm Defensive Ammunition do You Carry?

Winchester 115 grain Silver Tips. They are accurate, function well in my firearms, and hit point of aim in my handguns with fixed sights. My testing shows I get good expansion and penetration with my 2.9” P290, 16” Saint Victor, and everything in between. Plus, if anything goes wrong, I can...

    590A1 or A300 Ultima Patrol?

I was after an A300 for months. One day, I stopped at the LSG and asked if they had one yet. The guy said his next task was going to be to get the A300 they just received unpacked and out for display. I saved him the work. Sometimes timing and blind luck play in our favor.

I think our gun rights are about to come under heavy attack.

Thirty five years ago they passed the assault weapons ban. Gone. We had Ohio senator Howard Metzenbaum roaming the halls of the capitol stating he didn’t care about crime, he just wanted the guns. Gone. Ohio laws banning CCW? Gone. Replaced with constitutional carry. And Ohio is not the only...

    590A1 or A300 Ultima Patrol?

I struggled with a similar dilemma for a while and went with the A300. Very happy I did. One serving will meet the USDA recommended daily allowance of 00 buck in most situations. However, if you need more than one shot in really tight quarters, running a semi is much easier than running a pump.

    What motivates your gun-related expenditures?

When I was an LEO, my purchases were very utilitarian and I have quite a good selection of defensive firearms. Now purchases are driven by curiosity or the “fun to shoot” factor. Is a Ruger Blackhawk a good CCW choice ? No. I bought it because it is fun to shoot. Will I grab a 20 gauge O/U...

Looks like Paul Harrell is coming to the end of his road...

I originally stopped on one of his videos because he was wearing a coat just like the one I wear (mine is from L. L. Bean). Yesterday I was in a long line at a store when the guy across from me said, “Nice Paul Harrell coat.” By the time the line moved we had decided L. L. Bean could sell a...
