Thanks
Thanks for the suggestions. mr_dove, great website you have there. great resource. being in boulder county, i'm sort of interested in learning more about the different ranges north of the area as well. after reading your review on your site, i checked out jensen's in loveland. not a...
Thank you everyone for the replies. I went to the County Sheriff's Office today to submit my application. I was told it'll probably be around 6-8 weeks to get in the mail.
Where are some good indoor handgun and outdoor rifle ranges? I was surprised to find there isn't much listed in the...
I just moved to Colorado (close to Boulder). Where would be a good place to take a class to satisfy CO's requirement? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Right now, I'm thinking of leaning towards an airweight J-frame in a pocket holster. I have done this before, with good results. I think I just need to get a bit baggier pants so the gun doesn't print as much.
I'm also thinking of carrying another...
I'll be switching jobs soon. At my current job, I am permitted to wear pants with an untucked shirt. As such, I am able to cover J-frames up to L-frames pretty easily, with only a t-shirt or polo shirt as a covering garment.
At my new job, however, I will probably have to tuck in my shirt...
I have a 2" Model 64 which feels like it is an extension of my body. Fits my hand like a glove. It wears Pachmayr Compac Professional grips, and I currently shoot it the best out of all of my revolvers (including guns with longer barrels). I am confident in my ability to shoot quickly and...
I prefer exposed hammer, especially if the gun is worn on a belt. There may be instances where I would prefer concealed hammer, like if the gun is stored in a pocket.
Lots of good choices here. What caliber will you be allowed to use? Where will you carry your BUG--ankle, IWB, vest, etc.? All of the revolvers you listed fill specific niches.
Thanks for the info! Being obsessive, I pulled all of my Smiths out of the safe last night and checked for movement on all of them. Some were tighter, and some were actually looser! My guess is my model 36 is within "acceptable specs" at the moment. Again, it was interesting to note that it...
I posted this on the S&W Forum but was hoping to get some more input here.
Last night I noticed the cylinder on my mid-60s Model 36 wobbles a bit near the yoke/barrel end when pushed left and right. It's not a massive amount of wobble, but enough that if I grip the gun and shake it, there's...
I have a 442 which has no finish problems on the frame area. The cylinder, however, is I believe steel and regular bluing, so it has developed a few specks of rust when it came in contact with sweat. If one always kept the gun in a holster, I bet the cylinder would never show signs of rusting...
Not sure what exactly the Taurus 445ch is. Quick search on google says it's an all-steel, concealed hammer, 2" ported barrel, 5-shot .44 Special.
5 shot .44 specials in S&W land would be on an L-frame. I can only think of 3 off the top of my head (should probably check around to make sure...
The M-frames were the smallest hand ejectors ever made by S&W. These were seven-shot .22 Long revolvers made between 1902 and 1921.
According to the Standard Catalog by Supica and Nahas, there were a total of 26,152 manufactured.
Glad to hear you and your 36 are getting along! The Standard Catalog by Supica & Nahas lists your serial # in the 1977-78 time-frame. Congratulations on your new addition to the family!
I have an early 50's (Pre-36) and mid 60's (36) that I will occasionally shoot +Ps out of (my defense load, 158 gr. LSWCHPs). No problems so far. I'm sure +Ps are more wearing on the gun, but I'll shoot the +Ps to get myself accustomed to the recoil and verify POI vs. POA.
