    The WiFi Cops are coming!!!

Dangerous? Where I live, not very because I have no close neighbors. For city folk you are asking for it. Enable encryption on your WiFi router. WPA if you have it because WEP can be cracked. My WiFi is WPA encrypted with 63 random ASCII characters. Nobody comes in without my permission.

does soaking finished parts in hoppes#9 damage the finish?

I mean just finish damage. I submerged the gun in Hoppes and went off doing something else. It must have soaked for two hours. When I pulled it out the stainless steel finish had been marred. It was purely cosmetic. The gun still functions properly...and it was very clean.

Do you still have the gun you learned to shoot with?

I learned to shoot with my dad's Winchester 63, a .22 semi-auto. I was seven at the time. I got my first gun as a Christmas present at age 15. It was a Winchester 77, also a .22 semi-auto. I inherited the Model 63 when my dad died, and I still have both of the rifles. In Unintended...

Who's in the Running for NRA Board of Directors?

The celebrities are helpful simply because of their prominence. The only ones I personally know are Tom Gaines, who's not up for reelection, and Bill Carter. My recommendations: Gaines - "Yes" Carter - "When pigs fly"

    Ships and firearms

I just got off a Celebrity cruise from Vancouver to Seward. No weapons! They X-ray the baggage and run your carry-ons through a gate X-ray just like they do at airports. I had a pocket knife in the checked baggage and they caught it. Had to check it with the front desk. They were just...

For those in states with mag restriction->

I lived in California when it passed its high capacity magazine law. Those magazines in the state were allowed to remain there. You just couldn't bring any into the state. Still can't. My guess is that even if you owned a hicap in the state and took it out of the state for any purpose you...

    J.M. Davis Gun Museum

My family moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. I was in high school at the time. We went to Claremore for some reason I don't remember. What I do remember was going into a hotel that had guns everywhere. Guns on the walls, in the stairwells, in display cases. I could even touch the ones that...

Best deal you got on a gun?

In 1972 I bought a Weatherby Patrician 12 gauge pump for around $150. In 1977 I traded it for an 1865 Spencer with a Stabler Cutoff. Today the Weatherby is probably still worth about $150. The Spencer is worth $2200.

    Gun friendly countries.

Chile must be pretty gun friendly. A couple of years ago I went into a sporting goods store in a mall in Santiago. There were a lot of handguns on display, mostly S&W. My Spanish is too rusty to be able to strike up a lengthy firearms conversation, but I guess if they're on display they must...

    I need a good book.

Two more I forgot yesterday: Let Us Prey and Devil's Hole by Bill Branon. If you like guns you'll love these books. Branon knows his stuff. Unfortunately, these books are out of print and copies are pretty expensive. If you can borrow them from a friend or the library, do it.

    I need a good book.

In addition to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged read The Fountainhead. The Repairman Jack series by F. Paul Wilson is a lot of fun. Note that Jack gets his (illegal) weapons from the Isher Sporting Goods store. Maybe you have noticed that The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown has been on the...

    Identify This Unusual Chest-Mounted Revolver

The most unusual firearm I ever saw of this variety was in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. Of course, it was just a prop, but it was wearable. I won't describe the weapon. Just watch the movie. You'll know it when you see it.

    Gun Shop Search, WA

Kesselring's is only about seven miles north of Burlington. Go north from Burlington on I-5. Exit at Bow Hill Rd. Go east about a quarter-mile. Go north about one mile on Old 99. Kesselrings will be on your left. Like charliefox says, if they don't got it you don't need it.

Uugghh... Migh have to go to CA next week

Newport Beach is safe. It's not worth the hassle of airport security to take along a firearm. As long as the boss is picking up the tab try the Ritz in Fashion Island or the Bayside. They're expensive but memorable.

    Legal question for Oregon/Washington shooters!

Also, before you buy in Vancouver check out Bi-Mart. There are several in the Portland area. They sell guns and usually have a better selection than Wal-Mart.

    Legal question for Oregon/Washington shooters!

If you live in the Portland area of Oregon or the Coeur d'Alene area of Idaho you can shop in Clark and Spokane counties sales tax free by showing your drivers license. Washington passed this law to get shoppers from adjacent states to patronize Washington businesses.
