Awkward situation at a dinner party...

I'd just name a random caliber and stare back at him. ".45." Your turn, moron.

    sound-muffling chamber for indoor range?

I saw the tube of tires in action at a gun shop with a one-lane testfire range. It seemed to work pretty well, and was also a pretty good bullet trap in general. This was for occasional test firing, not for sustained fire. But they fired big rifles down it. Fair bullet trap too, I'd guess. And...

    Book related rifle question:

Writers get involved in a push and pull when it comes to describing techincal stuff, whether it's guns, boats, airplanes or whatever. If he is too short, the experts "get it" and read it just fine. "A 300 WinMag. Of course. Why didn't you say so?" But non-gunnies are scratching their heads...

A bag by any other name...still can hold a gun

Great thread, lots of practical knowledge. I would only add that every thrift store/Goodwill/pawn shop has absolute stuffed bins full of every imaginable pouch, bag, case, container, haversack, daypack, tool pack, camera bag, fanny pack and hip bag imaginable. In all colors and fabrics. And...

    Sniper book list

You might want to include Castigo Cay on your fiction list. I was a Navy SEAL in my youth (BUD/S class 105, 1979), but I promised myself long ago I would not write any fiction about SEALs. Too cheesy. But the protagonist of Castigo Cay is a thirty-something former Marine scout/sniper. The novel...

    Well, THIS was unexpected . . .

Even the Lefties are beginning to notice Gunrunner/walker/F&F. That's the real news here. The media boycott is crubling fast.

The dozen guns in my new novel.

Obiwan: John D. MacDonald was onto something good, setting his series on a (house)boat in FL. Something I've missed for a long time. This comes through in Castigo Cay.

The dozen guns in my new novel.

Legal Alien: Glad you enjoyed Castigo Cay, and it's very true that you want to set aside time to read the last 100 or so pages without stopping. BTW, I've finally put Foreign Enemies And Traitors on Kindle. Now all of my books are there.

Tuscaloosa cops came by after the tornadoes, we had guns. Video of what went down.

That's brilliant. God bless the South and small-town America and local LEOs!

The dozen guns in my new novel.

I think Travis McGee should always live on the Busted Flush, but it doesn't always work out that way.

The dozen guns in my new novel.

Thanks. Castigo Cay doesn't carry over anything from the trilogy. It's also set in a near future semi-dystopia, but a different one.

The dozen guns in my new novel.

Periodically I render forth a new novel, and now is such a time. Invariably my stories have revolved around firearms and their use in deadly situations. My latest work is called Castigo Cay, and it does not relate to the Enemies Foreign And Domestic trilogy except in their shared theme of a...

Anyone else shoot off the porch?

Every porch should come with shooting tables and targets out to at least 600 yards. Never lived at a setup like that, darn it, but I've visited a time or two.
