Can Level IIIA armor stop .357 mag fired from a carbine?

    1) This statement contributes nothing to the dialogue. 2) This statement is incorrect. Modern military still trains to shoot center mass - in fact any torso or head hit is considered a 'hit' for qualification purposes. 3) Body armor covers an estimate of 40-70% of vitals that would...

    Next level handgun organization/storage?

An economical solution is those rubber moly coated 8-dish drying racks sold at home decor stores. They are about $5, and hold 8 "dishes" vertically. They also perfectly fit handguns. The moly coating protects the finish.

    Taurus 24/7 OSS Mishap

Important thread revival from 2010. Public safety announcement. http://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/guns/taurus-agrees-to-39-million-settlement-in-defective-pistol-case/ Apparently this issue was just settled in a Court case and Taurus will fix the problems mentioned in this thread.

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

You apparently didn't read my suggestion of severe criminal penalties as a solution. The willingness of people to die to poach will narrow that market quite quickly. I know one thing, I wouldn't want to be this joker Walter Palmer right now. I hope it was worth it to him - killing all those...

Taurus Agrees to $39 million settlement

Interesting to read the recall list. These Millenniums have been very problematic for Taurus. I had a Gen 1 and it sucked. I reluctantly got a Gen 2 only after firing it satisfactorily. Now apparently it's on the recall list. Hmmm.... And I have a 24/7. Thanks for posting this. I'll...

I never said any of that... But the point in there is a good one. Our budget dust on our interest on the debt could solve this problem. Implementing and enforcing strict laws could solve this problem.

A photo safari is MUCH more sustainable. You can take 50 people through PER DAY - that's an endless resource at $5,000 per person... so that's $50,000 per day for endless days, in my example. Versus killing one out of 20,000 remaining, for a one-time fee. Ethics aside, it makes no...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

I have a simple, economic and swift solution. This should appeal to any person who genuinely wants to save the big cats, elephants and other African species. It comes at no additional costs. The US gives $12 BILLION in aid to Africa for economic development, infrastructure, health, etc. We...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

For those thinking that leaving the fate of these cats, elephants, etc up to the African governments, consider these impoverished uneducated nations have a track record of poor management and corruption, so it’s not comforting knowing the fate of these creatures is left to the highest bidder...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

Sadly this statement fails to take facts into account. I'll trust National Geographic instead, which states: Yep, that's a very small number indeed. Strangely National Geographic, and other leading experts on the topic, don't suggest going to kill one and mount the head. Instead, they...

    Cecil

To answer the OPs question, being outraged over big game hunting is not new. This is just the most recent public example of a "person" (I used that term very loosely because in my view he is of the lowest ilk) who gets thrills from causing pain and suffering. On par with dog fighting, and he's...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

I have a suggestion. Take the $xxx, xxx amount of money, DON'T kill one of the species, and instead donate it directly to a conservation organization. Then get a hobby that doesn't involve the moral equivalent of dog fighting. Problem solved.

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

It's sad and naive to think that killing these majestic animals is somehow helping them. Somehow 32,000 lions minus 1 equals 31,999 and shrinking. Rapidly. And killing this adult, probably means that many others will die as a result. This guy was caught because of the GPS tracker. How...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

The reason I tapped out isn't because I'm afraid of debate - I just have nothing "Hi-road" to say to those of you that condone the hunting of struggling big game like big cats, elephants, apes, etc. It's frankly demented. It shines a TERRIBLE light on Americans, gun owners, real hunters, etc...

    RIP Robinett_11B

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/registerguard/obituary.aspx?n=Craig-Robinett&pid=175340186 About two weeks ago we lost a member here named Craig Robinett, aka Robinett_11B. He was a regular member of another forum in WA that I am often on, and I noticed he was also a member here. I...

What are the shooting and hunting opportunities like in Seattle WA area?

The whole ring around Seattle and Bellevue in King county are generally liberal anti-gun types who routinely push their agenda, harass gun owners, etc. I don't live there... so can't speak to shooting or hunting. Recently I-594 was passed, making all FTF sales go thru and FFL...

Courageous big game hunting runs afoul

As a gun owner and genuinely concerned for conservation efforts for big cats, elephants, apes, you name it (yes, I donate money and have for years), and as responsible gun owner, this news article outrages me. :cuss: This is the dirty business of those big game hunts that rich people with more...

Mounting Gun Safe To Wooden Floor Help?

Not worth the effort. That safe is super simple to pry open with an ax or pry bar. And bolting to a floor joist requires very little effort to defeat with a skill saw or a reciprocating saw. May add 5 minutes and a little noise. Would take a person with the right tools, which are probably...
