Do Criminals Sometimes Shoot Cooperative Victims to Eliminate Witnesses?

As an LEO dispatcher, more than once I've had calls of the victim of robberies being shot or shot at after the act of the robbery itself is over. Only once that I know of was the victim killed, wounded a couple of times, more often a swing and a miss.

I'm in the mood for some pictures...

Not seeing any S&W love yet, so here Might as well throw in some 1911, too In home-defense mode

Use a rail mounted flashlight on your pistol?

I've cleared houses both with and without weapon-mounted lights. I have no intention of doing so without a weapon-mounted light ever again, if I can help it. IDPA has about as much to do with real life as paintball.

Is .44Mag a practical self defence caliber?

I occasionally carry my 6 inch Model 29, and I often use it for a nighstand gun. My preferred load is the 200 grain .44 Magnum Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel. Ballistically, it is the equivalent of the 200 grain .45 ACP +P, and with a trusted, bonded bullet. I feel very comfortable with the...

What is the first gun you have in mind when you hear 357 Mag or 44 Mag??

Simply mentioning ".357 Magnum" evokes thoughts of the true .357, the first .357, the Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum, now the Model 27. Same for the .44 Magnum. When I think .44 Magnum, the first picture in my head is of a S&W 29.

    Cleaning Chambers in 357 Magnum

For chamber cleaning, I use a well-used .45 brush and chuck it into my cordless drill. Generously apply cleaning solvent and then spin the brush in the chamber for 10-15 second, moving the drill slightly back and forth a bit. It seems to work really well, and I don't worry about fouling in...

Interested in Smith & Wesson Model 28 or The Like

1KPerDay, those are indeed target grips. They fill up there area behind the triggerguard and give me something more sustantial to grab on to. The small magna grips such as you have force me to contort my hand into a painful grip, and recoil just makes it hurt worse.

    revolver: 4" or 6"

I think some people just don't have enough respect for the .357 Magnum. :D I'm not great shakes as a shooter, but a friend and I regularly ding a rock that's been set up out just a hair past 200 yards. Here's my bud smacking it with a 6 inch 586, but we also use 4, 5, and 6 inch barrels.

Is the Smith & Wesson model 29 too fragile for .44 Mag?

Hoo boy! You ain't joking. I ran some through my new 29 last week and promptly tore a gash in the web of my hand from recoil combined with poorly fitting grips. Them'll put a flinch in ya! Somebody starts shooting better than me on the range, and they'll fix that too. LOUD! :D

    Lee Hand Press Kit

I don't put much stock in those who say you need a turret just to get started. Especially for 100-200 rounds a week. I do runs of 400-500 cases at a time with mine. Decap, bell and prime while sitting with my wife or watching TV, then I go to my Lee single stage bench loader for dropping powder...

HST should be an easy replacement for Hydra-Shock

They Hydra Shoks were fine....20 years ago. There is a whole new generation of JHP bullets that are worlds better than the Hydra Shok.

Did S&W just get it right with the M&P?

Mine doesn't have a locking mechanism that I know of.

    What do you CCW, PICS

Mine is the old style, that has now been discontinued. Had to have an IWB holster custom made for it. The weight out from helps quite a bit. 200 grain target loads feel like only slightly more than a .22.

Did S&W just get it right with the M&P?

The M&P is S&Ws proof that Mssrs. Smith and Wesson manage to get it right every now and then. The hard part will be keeping S&W from screwing it up now. I think that they've hit it out of the park with this one. I've read recently that over 80% of the LEO agencies that demo the M&P for issue end...

    What do you CCW, PICS

I either carry the 1911 Operator or my new M&P9. Usually the M&P now, though. Carried the 1911 for several years.

    help with grips for 686

Unless S&W has some sort of universal adaptor in that little miracle grip, a N grip and a K grip have different dimensions. I learned that one by trying, too.
