Comprehensive background checks and prohibitions based on violent misdemeanors had no effect

Leave prohibitions to violent or serious felons. I'm really not worried Martha Stewart is gonna come gunning for me.

What was your first CCW firearm and experience like?

20 years ago (in California no less) S&W 649 J-Frame, .357. Later moved to Glocks, others. Still have a couple Glocks and a 649, as well as others.

What's the cheapest gun you have that has given you the most enjoyment given it's price point?

Firestorm Commander sized 1911. $300 many moons ago. Rock solid dependable. I should have kept it.

The House passed a bill today to make home-state CC permits honored in all other states.

I too have doubts about it's chances in the senate, not likely but possible. What really interests me is how jurisdictions like NYC, CA, DC, etc. would react to this law.

    My Wierd Gun Rant

    "A hit with a .22 is better than a miss with a .45" assumes a .45 is incapable of making a hit.

Kahr P380 vs Ruger LCP vs Ruger LCP II vs Sig P238 vs Beretta Pico

I have the Kahr P380 and the Sig P238. The P380 is near perfect in size and ergonomics, but for me it has 2 problems. 1st is the slide requires great grip and strength, for more than my GF can manage. I ended up giving her one of my J-Frames instead. 2nd, after nearly 300 rounds and lots of...

    Your "go to gun."

"Your go-to gun" sounds like just one. I'm going to have to go with my S&W Mod 627, 2.5 inch, 8 shot .357. A tad thicker, but really no bigger or heavier than my 1911.

    Thinking of Reducing My Collection...

I am 65 and have about 30 guns. I don't hunt as much as I used to and much of my plinking is with my grand kids and other youngins. I am cutting down. I've given and sold guns and will continue until I have just a handfull of handguns and long guns. I think I could live with maybe 10 guns total.

Quality of firearms and the price point?

I guess I'm lucky, out of about 15 handguns, only one is questionable and one a total jamo-matic, a Kahr P380, north of $700. Out of about 15 long guns, only one or two are marginable.

    Addresses and Identification

Friend of mine just had to surrender his handguns (some lessons learned here)

Sounds like he had enough drinks to forget his handgun whereabouts, but not too many to have a designated driver.

moving to CA with a handgun

Wow, that is a Catch-22. I would pose this question to CA DOJ in a manner that would elicit a written response.

NY Times is Starting to Get Worried About Reciprocal Concealed Carry Licenses

Not to worry. Some California judge will somehow put a stop to this.
