Gelatin test says 9mm = 45ACP for SD?

Here how I got there. I think I am misleading all in my use of the term "energy dump". Perhaps there is a better way of putting it. The energy I am referring to is the "unstoppable" momentum of a mass. An object in motion tends to stay in motion and all that. Let's assume all the...

Gelatin test says 9mm = 45ACP for SD?

Today's modern hollow point ammunition can generally be relied upon to expand admirably and reliably, and to make a hole that is larger than itself. But expansion not withstanding, and all the jello tests aside, the name of the game is still energy dump......the round that delivers the most...

    pocket .380's

Depending on the given day, I carry either the P3AT, the Bersa 380 CC model, or a Smith Airweight. They see use at the range several times a quarter, and each runs on anything I feed it.

    Wife has trouble racking slide

Common problem, it would appear. My own dimunitive bride cannot rack a slide, either; and she even has trouble firing a revolver double action. Since she doesn't carry, her "safe room" gun is either a SP-101 that has been worked on extensively by a prominent gunsmith, or more recently, a...

Lasers - does anyone actually use them?

Still working for a living with a long commute and restrictions on my time has me exercising outdoors well before dawn. I carry an Airweight snub with a CT grip simply because I can't see the iron sights very well in the dark.

Target Shooting - Is Anyone Telling The Truth?

You still see a few pistol boxes on the bench at my local range. The best of them can create 2-3 inch holes where the X used to be.

    Any SIG P220 owners here?

Stainless DA/SA model here, and it's a fine piece of work. I found the grip to be a bit thick and the reach to the double action trigger a little long, so I replaced the grips with Sig's "thin" grips for the 220 and I'm now a happy camper.

    lcp vs. kel-tec P32 or P3AT

My own P3AT continues to be 100%. I've run a significant number of Winchester White box round nose, Remington UMC Round nose, Remington UMC HP's, Buffalo Bore Lead Flat nose, Remington Golden Sabers and my own reloads without issue. I guess when they work, they work. As for Ruger...

    Repair Work and Turnaround Time...

Ruger's turn around time for me was 2 weeks. A burr on a thread wouldn't allow my rear sight to adjust. Ruger sent UPS to pick it up and bring it back at no charge to me.

    Ruger Charger anyone have one?

My bride has one and she uses it each week at our local outdoor range. Sporting a 2x pistol scope, she finds it to be great fun. It's easy to shoot well and it lends itself to introducing newbies to the shooting game. Gangbangers need not apply, but families out for an afternoon of...

.380 autos ? colt 1908 or ppk sizeish anyone know anygood ones

I'll second the vote for a Bersa CC model. It's a far cry from the most expensive firearm in my stable, but it still remains one of my favorites. It's got the right combination of size and weight, coupled with total reliability. Good stuff.

    Totally leaded up Star 9MM....

FWIW, I shoot nothing but lead. The savings are worth a bit of extra cleaning time to me. The suggestion to wrap a bore brush with a section of Chore Boy is correct. Just make sure it's the Chore Boy brand. There are others out there that are plated steel, not soft copper. Pull the Chore...

    .380's are unreliable

My Bersa Thunder 380 concealed carry model has been 100% for me. Stoked with alternating Buffalo Bore solids and Golden Sabers, I don't feel under gunned at the 12 yards or less I would likely expect to be using it at.

What guns do large waisted people carry

How do you expect us to concentrate on the vest when we can't get past that pretty smile on your bride? The vest works well enough, but as an option to a vest, or to an untucked shirt, is front pocket carry. Cabelas sells Cargo shorts and pants that work for front pocket carry...even on...

    I Have Be Glockulized

Congrats on the new G26. In my still ongoing, and yet unfilled search for another carry pistol, I believe the G26 is also drawing me in. Haven't quite made up my mind yet, but I'm close. Here in Florida, I'm strictly a pocket carry type of fellow, and 95% of the time you will find me in...

Hip/Pelvic area hits = "stopping" power?

I'd be curious to know if there is any actual LEO history of hits to the pelvic area with a handgun and how effective they were in "stopping" an advancing BG. My thought is, even if you missed the hip joint, it has to feel like someone kicked you with steel toe boots on. In my youth, I was...
