Do You Get What You Pay For?

Somewhat. There are some true gems out there for a reasonable price, though. The Springfield XD series is great for the money, especially the 45. It is high-capacity, easy to shoot, and very well behaved...plus, it is a cannonball instead of a bullet. Another great value is the Taurus...

    Self Defense Issue...Urgent

Coastie, Obvously...you are not who I am referring to...LOL. I am not giving legal advice. Never been a lawyer. I am trying to help by simply giving advice and explaining what the simple situation would be.

    Self Defense Issue...Urgent

Make sure he files the appropriate complaints re the harrassing phone calls with the local law enforcement agency. He needs some documentation if something goes wrong to show that there was a pattern apparent. He bought the gun from you. It is his gun. Buying a weapon to defend your family...

Anybody else taking extra precautions for HD the next few nights?

Wow... Just curious as to how many of you who are convinced that you better get "locked 'n loaded" for Halloween moreso than any other day have ever been involved in real life situations that required you to take some kind of action involving GBI or deadly force?

Weaver: Well Entrenched, but Perhaps Detrimental?

I haven't posted here in a while, but this is a good discussion. Maybe if I throw in a couple of real life experiences of mine I can back up what Jeff is saying... I have been in close in (5-15ft) firefights, and I reverted directly to training. That includes presenting the weapon from...

Cowardice as a Tactical State of Mind

I am not trying to be a jerk here, but this kind of stuff lends itself to paranoia. By all means watch out for yourself and avoid LOOKING for trouble, but for God's sake don't live your life like a human jellyfish.

Do you answer the door to uninvited strangers?

If ya don't answer the door and it IS a bad guy, they may very well assume nobody is home and make their way into your residence. However, if and when you do...be prepared for any eventuality.

Can You Really Prevent Unintentional Discharges?

MrZ; Yes, larger agencies with larger budgets can lend themselves to poor training and roll-out of weaponed and weaponless combatives. LASD is currently this way. This is a shame because at one point they had a pretty good combatives program. It is all about the people running the range...

    Do Cops Watch "COPS"?

    CTD: In a nutshell: Yeah.

Can You Really Prevent Unintentional Discharges?

The problem is that many small agencies do not give sufficient training (I have noticed this moreso in TX than CA). Combine that with many officers not taking the initiative to go and practice weapon and weaponless combatives on their own and you have a recipe for failure. Larger agencies...

    Do Cops Watch "COPS"?

I only watch it if I am REALLY bored and there is absolutely nothing else on and I have NOTHING else to do. More often than not I watch in awe as guys are making stupid decisions for the camera and comprimising their safety and the safety of others.
