wanted-9MM loads for 125 grain cast bullets

    I use 6.0gr of AA#5 behind a 125 LRN for my 9mm load.

    WTG RWS Brass

Grafs lists Norma brass in that caliber.

Its about time I reload, a couple questions

For a .223 powder, I use Ramshot TAC, though I've heard positive reports on Varget, BLC-2 and H335. TAC is by far the cheapest. Hornday 55gr FMJ-BT bullets are the cheapest I've seen.

Hornady Dies users/ Lock N load Question

I use the Hornady crimp die in .357/.38 and .45 ACP. It does a fine job, and I've never felt the need for a separate crimp die. I do not use the powder drop expander, since I don't use a separate crimp die, there's no need.

    I have a 50dollar gift card , should I buy a mosin nagant 91/30?

Wolf also makes several varieties of ammo for it, at reasonable (~.30/rd) prices. Mostly hunting-variety softpoints in the Wolf Gold (~$12/20) line, and mostly FMJ in the black box steel case line (~$6/20). Also watch out, Mosins multiply once you buy one. I started with an M44, and now I...

    Ball Powders

I use AA 2520 in 30.06 and similar rifle calibers. Most of the AA powders are ball powders.

Indoor range fees: per-person or per-lane?

The range I'm a member of charges by the lane-hour (or annual members can bring a guest for free), but another local range charges by the person. I prefer my range due to the fact that they allow rifle calibers and have a 100m range, all indoors.

    38 Special powder

My accuracy load in .38spl is a Hornady 140gr FP lead bullet over 4.2gr AA#2. Works quite well, a bit dirty though (Hornady's lube is pretty bad for smoke and dirt), and very light recoil.

An official reply from Winchester (Olin Corp)

IIRC, the Winchester Metric line is just PRVI Partisan ammo rebranded. If any of your brass has the headstamp NNY or PPU, it's PP manufactured brass. Grafs carries PP brass as well as their house brand in some calibers (rumored to be PP as well).

Which die sets for Hornaday LNL (starting from scratch)

I have the Hornady dies in .38/.357, .45ACP, 7.5x55, and 9mm. All have served me well. I also use Lee and RCBS dies in my LnL, the only issue being that the Lee crimp dies can interfere with the ejector wire, an issue easily solved by grinding the die down a bit. I also have the RCBS X-Die in...

Better flash and bang in short .357s

125gr bullets, H110, and lots of it. My load was 19.7gr H110 and a Hornady 125gr XTP, seated to the cannelure, with a heavy roll crimp. Blinding even in a 6" barrel.

    Your favorite .38 Special loads?

My favorite is 4.2gr of AA#2 and a Hornady 140gr lead flat point "cowboy" bullet. Soft recoiling and accurate in my Taurus 66.

Where can I shoot in the Durham, Chapel Hill or Raleigh area

There's a nice indoor rifle/pistol range (50-100 yard ranges) in Apex, but you have to take an orientation class to shoot there. Class is ~2 hours and costs $15, but they give you (and the person who referred you) a free hour on the range. Google Wake County FETC for the website and...

    loading 22-250 extremely mild?

Why not consider a .223 Rem bolt gun instead? It's easier to download the smaller .223 case, you can still load it up to a decent power level, and it's an almost ubiquitous chambering. CZ makes a rather nice one, the 527 carbine.

    Help me out for Christmas!

The X die reduces the need for trimming (in my experience, on .223, you need to trim *once*, on initial load, then the die keeps the length in spec).

    Average cost

To combat the .38 "gunk" in the front of the cylinder, I just use .38spl load data in .357 cases. Both cases have the same capacity, due to the .357s much thicker walls/web. You can use .38 data as is, only adjusting the OAL for the longer case.

    persian mauser commercial ammo

Wolf Gold or PRVI Partisan (same stuff, different box) is good hunting ammo when the softpoint load is used. It's accurate, powerful (196gr @ ~2400fps), and is loaded in good brass if you reload. The main issue with US 8x57mm is that it's mostly very underloaded for the 1888 Commission rifle...

    Threading a CX4 barrel = illegal?

You *might* run into 922(r) issues if it was foreign made and the modification makes it no longer a sporting arm (which, IIRC, a threaded muzzle would). First, check to see how much of it was foreign made, and if enough of it was to fall under 922r, you'll need either "compliance parts" (same...

    Frangible M-160 108.5 Grain, Green/White tip

I have loaded them in 30.06, with Unique, 2400, and AA2520. The AA2520 loads (regular 125gr jacketed data) were waaaaay too hot, and led to horrible accuracy, and a few bullets that fragmented before hitting the target. My favorite load is 14.4gr Unique in 30.06.
