    .308 Range Day!

The snow out here in Colorado has finally melted off to the point that I can go shoot out in the Natl Forest, a 5 minute drive from the house.:D I haven't shot my .308 in 4 month's, so I was eager to cut it loose. The Rifle: Remington 700 SPS Tactical, 20" bull barrel, Nikon Pro-Staff...

YouTube, Rob Leatham and XD Torture test

Here's a great video, circa 2002-03 demonstrating the capabilities of the original XD. This is a good rebuttal to all the glock fanboy's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M36x4qh7tsc My favorite feature of my XD, the 1911 esque grip angle, points natural and shoot's great.

50 rounds of 9mm reloads fired today.....8 light strikes!

I'm using Wolf SP primers and the pistol is a Ruger SR9-C. I really hope the Ruger doesn't have an issue with the Wolf primers, as I have about 7K of them. For the record, I've fired about 200 factory S&B rounds with NO light strikes. Today was frustrating, to say the least. My XD-40...

Not real happy with my Longshot 9mm reloads

I did my first box last night, 115 gr plated fmj, 5.3 grains Longshot, 1.130" OAL. The rounds cycled fine, but they were scattered all over the target and they felt like real light powder puff's. Hodgdon list's the minimum at 5 grains and the max at 6 grains, so the powder charge should be...

    Time to start loadin' 9mm

For my recently aquired SR9-C. I just ordered 1000 115 grain plated bullets from tj conevera, supposed to ship tomorrow.:) I've already got the Longshot powder, primers, brass, and dies. Guess what I'll be doing this labor day weekend, heheee! I'm figuring the rounds will cost me 11...

    Longshot and 9mm

Anybody use it and how does it work in 9mm? I'm looking at loading 115 gr plated bullets, probably around 5 grains/charge. I've got 4lbs of the stuff. My other powder options are Universal, Unique, and Blue Dot.

    Ruger SR9-C Range Report

I took my SR9-C out today, 140 rounds through it so far. The trigger is getting better, it started out gritty, but its smoothing out now.:) I really like the way it points/shoots, recoil is a non issue, fits my hand perfect, I really like it. Here's one of my targets from today, 15 rounds...

Had a really good day with the .308!

Hey ya'll, this was my best day with my .308 in awhile, I'm very pleased with this performance. The Rifle: Remington 700 SPS Tactical, .308, 20" heavy barrel, this thing is bad ass!.:D 100 yards, shooting off bipod, light winds, 80 degree's. The handload: Nosler 168 HPBT, IMR-4895 at...

Is the Federal 115 grain +p+ a good 9mm defense load?

Opinions? I'm about to order a case of S&B ball ammo and was going to get 100 rounds of this stuff too, its $19.99/50 at surplus ammo. Also, is the 180 grain HST a good 40 round? Gonna get some of that too, lol.

Shot my new Ruger SR9-C today

Put 40 rounds through it, Winchester white box, 115 grain fmj. No failures, light recoil, points great and feels great. Even with the new, stiff, gritty trigger, I was getting 3" groups at 15 yards, not bad at all. I figure after about 300 rounds, the trigger will get much better. My XD-40...

9mm....how many rounds before it pays to reload?

I only plan on shooting 1000-1200 rounds/year out of my SR9-C. Is it worth it to reload at this volume of shooting? I can get a case of Sellier&Bellot 115 grain ball shipped for $200, 1000 rounds.

Do you have a favorite caliber that you handload

For me, between .308, .223, 40 S&W and 357 mag/38 spl, my favorite is by far the .223.:D Its cheap to load, cheap to shoot and I can have immense fun with it, my Mini-14 is an absolute hoot!:)

confused on load data for 62 grain SS-109 in .223

These bullets are almost as long as a 69 grain bullet, should I use the data for 69 grain bullet or 63 grain bullet at hodgdon's online data center? I'm using IMR4895, the max for the 69 grain is 24.8, the 63 grain, 25.3. I'm safe either way, as I've loaded them with 24.4 grains.:) These...

    How's Benchmark in 223

I'm looking to buy an 8lb Keg of powder, can't find Varget or H-4895, Benchmark seems to be the next best thing, what say you? I'll be loading 55 grain, 62 grain, and a few 69 grain bullets.:)

Officer involved shootout with crazed criminal, officer lives

Here's a pretty intense video similar to the Kyle Dinkheller situation, although this time, it turns out bad for the criminal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQwNkHkyPng&feature=related Another one I found, chase/shootout/ramming cars, intense! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJdVqkkW4Wc...

    Best 168 grain match bullet

I've got a few hundred Nosler 168 gr hpbt's that I've been loading and they have performed well. Since I'm getting low on these, I'm thinking of trying something different, I'm looking at matchking's or the Hornady Amax. Which bullet do you guys like best? Should I just stick with the Nosler's?

First time shooting my .308 at 300, 400, and 475 yards

I took my .308 out today for some first time medium range shooting. I've been shooting this rifle at 100 and 200 yards and doing pretty well with it, I decided its time to stretch the legs a little.:) The Rifle: Remington 700 SPS Tactical with bipod and Nikon 3-9x40 scope. My Handload's...
